Robert De Niro is striking a more diplomatic tone regarding President-elect Donald Trump, whom he previously said he'd like to "punch ... in the face."
“I would only say that we’re all hoping, waiting and hoping, that he will lead the country in a way that’ll benefit everyone and benefit our neighbors around the world,” De Niro told ITK on Tuesday when asked what message he’d want to share with Trump.
“That’s all,” the "Godfather Part II" star said.

I guess it took a lot of courage for a hater to buck his party. He went up a notch in my book...that puts him at notch 1
I can see De Niro introducing Trump at the next Republican convention as a supporter. A lot of Dems hated Reagan but his charm and wit won over a lot of them and he won even bigger the second time ‘round.
And like De Niro himself Trump pulls no punches, as witnessed today when he gave the mainstream media a lesson in humility.

Bobby Duvall and Bobby De Niro... Two of the best of all time and diametrically opposed when it comes to politics, kind of like Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda.
In the end, all four delivered excellent acting performances and strived for the same thing... Telling the American story by playing average Americans like:
Duvall - Lieutenant Colonel Bull Meechum, USMC - The Great Santini
Stewart - George Bailey - It’s a Wonderful Life
Fonda - Lt. Douglas A. Roberts - Mister Roberts
De Niro - Travis Bickle - Taxi Driver
Well... Maybe those characters weren’t all average American’s, but you get my drift.
No wonder liberals hate the Koch brothers. :)

President Elect Trump is a tough guy ~ and you had better show proper respect for Trump (and the USA) before you get the beatdown you so richly deserve...
