The Tennessee school bus driver charged in a wreck that killed five elementary school kids allegedly asked the students if they were "ready to die" as he raced down a narrow Chattanooga road, a parent said.
Johnthony Walker was speeding "well above" the posted speed limit and lost control of the bus before it flipped over and wrapped around a tree, police wrote in an arrest affidavit.

Walker, 24, is charged with five counts of vehicular homicide for the deaths of five Woodmore Elementary School students: three fourth graders, a first grader and a kindergartner. None of the children - four girls and a boy - have been identified.
Another dozen students remained hospitalized Tuesday morning, six of whom are in critical condition.

Dumb bastard. He had responsibility for so many young lives, and he was trying to be cool, or whatever. If an AR15 killed 6 kids, they would scream to ban them. Can we ban idiots who look like this from driving?

I taught at a rural school for many years. Several of the teachers also drove the bus. CDL license, training sessions with the highway patrol, criminal background checks, all required to drive a school bus in Missouri. One was involved in a wreck—not her fault—an asleep-at-the wheel driver crossed the center line and hit the bus. After all of the kids were evacuated and accounted for, she was tested for drugs and alcohol—SOP. I imagine each state’s requirements for school-bus drivers differs. I’ve heard that some states let high school students drive buses.

A CDL bus endorsement is required in VT. I was chair of the school board in my area and we ran our own busses. A criminal background check was a requirement for any and all district employees Teachers, administration and staff.
Isn't it the Left and Dems who oppose and scoff at the notion of asking PERSONAL questions AND checking on health records in the process of employment?

I never asked him what he thought of names like Johnthony or TA'Hennesy. My guess is that he'd say that they're "fine names, and the people should be afforded all the same opportunities that anyone else would have". He was a far better man than me.
