It may help, but lots of time the local news stations just parrot whatever news service (network or AP) they use. For example, just now the local ABC news outlet here in ABQ had a story how there are concerns with a conflict of interest between Trump's presidency and his business interests. One expert was an Obama "ethics" appointee who said Trump may break the law. Of course during the entire past campaign there was nary a peep by the MSM of Hillary's blatant conflict of interest with the Clinton Crime Foundation and how it enhanced the Clinton's personal bank accounts.

Sure, but if he gives interviews to the local reporters, they will file it onto the AP and Meygan Kelly will have to quote from the local reporter's story.
If he is rolling back coal regulations, for example, why not get some West Virginia reporters to interview him? It actually shows West Virginia respect that he would involve them.
