(CNN)An "explosion" in hate crimes since Election Day has prompted the creation of a special police unit to fight the uptick in New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Sunday.
The announcement coincided with an address at Harlem's Abyssinian Baptist Church, where Cuomo called for an end to the divisiveness that has gripped the country. . .
. . .Calling this kind of prejudice a "social poison [in] the fabric of our nation," the governor cited a number of recent incidents, including a scourge of swastika graffiti and the case of black freshmen at the University of Pennsylvania being sent pictures of lynchings and racial slurs.
Cuomo also vowed to set up a legal defense fund for immigrants who fear prosecution under a Trump administration. He said the fund would be the first of its kind. . .

Last time I checked, Pennsylvania is not in New York. Or vice versa.
Is there any chance that this special unit will also go after all the faux hate crimes as hate crimes?

It’s gotten so bad, not even Broadway is safe. I heard of an incident where some black people were spewing hatred on a white guy right in front of a big audience!
I have only been surfing FR for the last hour, and this is the 3rd hit piece on whites that I have seen. Some veiled, some not so veiled.
Assassinated Law Enforcement. Whites by Black. Whites by Illegals. Just plain Old Americans being killed by Muslims. Yea. Hate Crimes going Up.

The movement to delegitimize the Trump presidency is in full swing. But I don’t think it’ll take hold, as the overwhelming majority of the American people are wise to this game.
No mention of the hate speech directed against Pence.
The very existence of “Hate Crime” laws is unconstitutional.
The Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the US Constitution provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction “the equal protection of the laws”.
If two identical crimes are committed and one is deemed a hate crime while the other is not the treatment and potential punishment of the accused under the law is different.

This reminds me of when someone will name a few things and then say “I could go on and on” when in fact they’re out of bullets and actually couldn’t go on.
My guess is this special response team mostly sits around like the Maytag man.
