I know nothing about Canadian politics, but I must say that a lady should find a better, more dignified way of expressing her thoughts in any public forum, especially in the Parliament.
“Conservative MP Michelle Rempel accused the government of treating the province of ‘Alberta like a fart in the room’ over employment.”
Agreed. The need for decorum and this case ladylike language is apparent.
Or, “MP Michelle Rempel accused the government of treating the province of ‘Alberta like the campfire scene in Blazing Saddles’...might have worked.
Perhaps but there is a 'relatively' honorable history to the use of the word and the discussion of the same. I give you Benjamin Franklin; Fart for freedom, fart for libertyand fart proudly. and He that lives upon hope will die farting. While a 4-letter word, it is a word, as used by this MP, is eloquent as a simile, a noticeable but worthless reality.
