Vice President-elect Mike Pence attended a performance of Hamilton tonight in New York City.
Pence was harassed by the audience… AND the cast..
The audience booed when he entered the theater. (many also cheered)
Then at the close of the performance the lead actor Brandon Dixon insulted the vice president-elect.
Actor Brandon Dixon lectured the new Vice President-elect on “tolerance.”
“Vice President elect Pence we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us here at Hamilton the American musical. We really do. We sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us.”
Seriously?
On Saturday morning President-elect Donald Trump defended Mike Pence and told the Hamilton cast to apologize.
“Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing.This should not happen!”
“The Theater must always be a safe and special place.The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!”
But that is only because libs are apparently incapable of understanding that they should be sorry for their intolerance.

The wrong time, the wrong place and the wrong show.
While “Hamilton” may not portray the founding fathers as slave owning and slave raping white supremacists, still, the use of rap music, simple-minded dialogue and black and Latino actors to depict the founders is clearly not intended to engender respect for the great men and great accomplishments surrounding the founding of the republic.
It is a mockery of our great history and a slander of the heroes of the American Revolution and I have no idea how Pence or any other patriot could so misread the malignant agenda of the makers of such revisionist garbage as to show up there in the first place -
- and to pay thousands of dollars for a ticket? What was he thinking?
I do admire Pence, but doesn’t he know that modern portrayals of the founding fathers are leftist, agenda-driven, revisionist propaganda? That the agenda is to discredit the founding principles by discrediting the founding fathers? The exact opposite of the Trump/Pence agenda to Make America Great Again?
Doesn’t he realize that leftists believe MAGA is a “dog whistle” to white supremacists - a battle cry to return to the Greatness of the “good old days” of slavery when only white male property owners could vote?
He was definitely walking into an ambush when he attended that show - I could have told him that!
Unless...maybe....Trump is back to his old tricks of controlling the news cycle, flushing the liberals out, giving them the rope they need to hang themselves. I wouldn’t doubt it. He is on a winning streak, so maybe I should just sit back and eat the popcorn
Once the word gets out on this I expect them to regret it. Not smart. But ideology always comes before profit with performers.
On the tape I saw of Pence’s entrance at Shamilton there was cheering followed by a few loud obnoxious boos.
I was appalled at the clip of this lecture by a cast member to VP Elect Pence..I cannot believe any other theater goer has ever had this treatment...Talk about bad manners and arrogance,,,this took the prize.
They won’t apologize.
This cast is not all black IIRC...That comes later...only non whites being auditioned.
Since this election is really about big city vs. everybody else. It also correlates to meanness vs. civility. Go to almost any small town or even small cities like Green Bay. You will find that people are more than just civil, they are nice. Hello, thank you, waving to people on the street, these are things people in nice society do.
But in the city they are crass and rude and push a head in an every man for himself attitude. We in small towns see it when we go to the city. People in the city see it when they leave their metropolis and venture out to the hinterlands.
The crass crowd are very pleased with themselves having jeered at Pence. They call themselves heroes. You can read about it in the NYT and Politico. They are proud of their meanness. And possibly we should be thankful too. We have a place for the mean folks to go. When our small towns have had enough of an ill mannered 18 year old. We can send them to the city where they can grouse and shove and smirk to their hearts content.
Yeah like that’s going to happen.
Right.....It was Pence’s fault.......Gimme a break.

Would love to write more on the subject...but I actually think it’s precisely because of shows like Hamilton that there is hope for liberals and minorities to come out of the dark side and join the good side eventually.
It’s all about timing. Change and undoing years and years of social conditioning takes time.
I’m still waiting for the NYT and others to apologize to McCarthy, since he was proved to be truthful, after the KGB archives were opened in Russia.
The Socialist always lie, double down, and even when proved wrong, keep referring to the lies as truth.
Isn’t New York City, where the Supervisor of Election confesses they drove groups of Democrat voters from precinct to precinct to vote repeatedly. I wonder what the vote actually was in New York City.
That’s what happens when you CHOOSE to participate in unprotected sex. They are all about Choice, but never want to live with the consequences. They always blame others for their own actions.
What is it about a show like Hamilton that gives you hope? I admit I haven’t seen it (and never will), but I’ve read some reviews.
Just curious, maybe I’m wrong and the show has merit.
Like I said, I’m only basing my opinion on some negative reviews that I found credible and on the proud declaration of cultural bias against the founding fathers by the show’s creators, producers and performers.
Or perhaps you are making the same naive mistake many of us conservatives made when All In The Family aired:
I truly believed Archie Bunker was the sympathetic character, a good but grouchy common-sense conservative red blooded meat and potatoes flag waving politically incorrect patriot, cursed to Iive among lost-cause bleeding heart liberal a-holes day-after-day.
I thought the writers of the show agreed with me and were mocking the liberal point of view - they weren’t. The joke was on us! I was so sure about it that I even got into arguments about it - until I heard Norman Lear talking about it - even then I couldn’t believe that show wasn’t making fun of how obnoxious liberals are and how utterly frustrating it is to have to live with them.
It’s called confirmation bias. Sometimes we selectively choose or give weight to evidence that ‘confirms’ our view.
Is it possible you are seeing a positive message in a show like Hamilton, where none exists? Would you be surprised to find that the writers, producers and actors intended a different message, one deeply negative toward the founding fathers?
It’s De Blasio country in one of the Bluest states. I don’t do sanctuary cities.
Ah! Totally before my time but I ADORE “All in the Family” - and Norman Lear is no Trump supporter (and the writer of “Hamilton,” Lin Manuel Miranda isn’t either obviously.)
