Fashion designer Sophie Theallet is urging her colleagues in couture to follow her example by refusing to dress the future first lady Melania Trump.
As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next First Lady, Theallet wrote, reports Elle. The rhetoric of racism, sexism, and xenophobia unleashed by her husbands presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by. I encourage my fellow designers to do the same.

All fashion designers are Liberal?
That time came and went years ago.
The sofa went to the auctioneers ...
The word that keeps popping up for me these days is UNPROFESSIONAL.
Really, where are these fools in business coming from? The CUSTOMER is the focal point of any sane business, not the owner. There will be plenty of designers just wishing they could be the ones to dress Melania.
Pathetic.
Which seems to now be defined as any action by any white male short of turning his entire net worth over to Black Lives Matter as an apology for slavery and then placing his head compliantly on the block for radical Islamists to remove it. :)
It wasn’t a tent suit! It was one of those stylish new hospital gowns....(or a pot holder) {;cP
Just for chits and grins, Trump ought to take a page out of 0’s book and have the IRS stop by Sophies dump and have a “hi, how are you” with her.
Have fun alone in your boycott, Sophie.
A former model as First Lady should be any designer’s dream to “dress” her. I suspect most of them would value the prestige over a stupid political stand.
What makes Thietal think she was ever in the running?
Sorry, Thealett.
If these people are responsible for Michelle Obama’s wardrobe Melania should send them a thank you note. She appears quite capable of “dressing” herself.
Aww yes, the bastion of women with strong wills and free minds is upset because Melania is strong willed and has a free mind.
I love it when the Left outs themselves for who they really are.
They hate women they can’t control.
Except they aren’t the runway line. These are ready-to-wear. As in sold to shops. Or, I suppose, to boutiques.
1) I know there are specialty shops where the client sits on a sofa drinking champagne while models parade the designs, which is then altered to fit, but this *stuff* is too theatrical, too sheer-in-the-wrong-places and the fabrics are chintzy.
2) OTOH, not one of these *looks* would display well on a clothes rack.
3) They are all highly inappropriate for any event presided over by a First Lady.
The designer is 50-something and unheard of. She must have a clientele composed of trannies and drag queens. The word hotard comes to mind.
Just another attention whore trying to get noticed. H’mmmm. That describes the clothes, too.
They were bolt ends from the drapery department.
Sorry. Thaellet
Sorry. Last try: Toilet. There. I think I got it right this time.
ROFL!!!
Of course I’ve bought clothing, bunny. Fittings dont preclude the buyer from buying something.
Somehow I don’t see you paying 10s of thousands for designer clothes.
Same to you.
That is laughable, isn’t it? I never saw a worst dressed first lady than Michelle Obama. Melania looks fabulous in what she has been wearing already!
I’ll never forget what Michelle Obama wore to the inauguration in 2008. I was embarrassed for her! It’s a morning/afternoon occasion, and she wore an outfit that should have been worn at an evening function. Also, some of her outfits looked like they were made from someone’s old drapes.
