A reporter for a Detroit-area news station has resigned after she was accused by a local political consultant of tossing out a racial slur while speaking to a colleague of hers.
31-year-old Lauren Podell offered her resignation to WDIV on Wednesday following the posting of her supposed comments to Facebook a few days earlier. According to media teacher and political operative Sam Riddle, he was told that Podell told a co-worker earlier this year shes tired of reporting on these n***ers killing one another in Detroit.

Lauren Podell has resigned. 8:48 PM - 16 Nov 2016 91 91 Retweets 64 64 likes Per the Detroit Free Press, WDIV Vice President Marla Drutz acknowledged on Monday that an incident with Podell did occur roughly six months earlier and that it had been addressed and acted upon. At the same time, Drutz pointed out that the quote posted on Facebook wasnt accurate.
Nevertheless, a situation did occur more than six months ago, when an unacceptable off-air comment was made by a reporter in front of a co-worker, but not as quoted on social media, she said.
Drutz told the Free Press on Monday that the incident occurred last March.
As also mentioned, the original social media post was not an accurate quote and it suggested that our reporter made those specific remarks on-air. This is untrue. You also asked if any action was taken against her and yes, action was taken, Drutz said. However, as you can understand this is a personnel matter.
Riddle stated that he had unimpeachable multiple sources regarding the quote. Meanwhile, a Detroit pastor, W.J. Rideout, called for a boycott of the station.
This isnt the first time Podell has been at the center of controversy. Three years ago, she dropped an f-bomb during a live broadcast while reporting from a fire scene.

From the quote I would have figured the reporter to be black.
N for NOT even remotely close to guilty.
If she wants to work in front of a camera, there is only one industry where she might be employable.
Chris Rock could explain this to the snowflakes, if they would just listen.
If she wants to say “This fire is f....g hot!” that’s okay with me.
I heard a comedian say he hates when people say “the n word”. They didn’t say it but they made him think it.
She’s blond enough for FOX!
Although that might not be the best place anymore.
Hey, she’s kinda cute. I always liked women like her.
She just needs a scolding. Send her to my office.
“N words?” You mean neighbors?
When telling the truth is a criminal act your living in a tyranny.
“I’m tired of reporting on all these aspiring rappers who were turning their lives around.”
Lauren’s a pretty cool girl. Watched her for years every AM on the “early” (5:00 AM) news. Worked her way up from traffic to being a “roving” field reporter.
She was always kind of raw and had a very Detroit blue collar kind of style. (You know..the type of girl you’d hang with at the bar or the Lions game, that’d be there with all the guys). That’s part of what made her interesting. Her dad is also somewhat of a legend in Detroit radio, which in all likelihood probably helped open some doors and allowed her to get her WDIV gig.
Always liked her, so bummer to see her go. I remember several years ago when she dropped the “live F bomb” on the air and thought that’d finish her..surprised she lasted this long, actually.
Talk like that cuts both ways, so don't object if somebody puts you in group you don't think you belong to.
So the whole controversy is that she didn’t want to see more n-words killing each other and this seems to have everyone more offended than the n-words actually killing each other do.
