I see it as a bit of a snub. Christie certainly did, notice how after the handshake he begins hovering around Trump, how when Trump gives a hug to the next guy Christie pats him on the back and then starts blocking his way and trying to get a second shot at it. Notice how Trump is conspicuously ignoring him even as he tries to step past Christie to get to his other supporters, an effort he ended up giving up on because of Christie's blocking.

It stood out to me on that night for a couple of reasons. First, Christie is governor of my state so I notice him. Second, it reminded me of that time he was in the luxury box of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and he tried to high five Jones and was denied. See it here. This was similarly awkward and I thought "well, that seals it. Christie is really the nerd hanging with the cool kids and desperate to be accepted but not quite cutting it."
