Donald Trump's election has raised deep concerns, even among his supporters, that he may misuse the vast powers of the presidency. We believe that he can take early steps now, even before he takes office, to signal that he will use executive power to unify the country, despite a campaign that emphasized differences within the Republican Party and among American voters generally.
Trump should look for policy initiatives where he can appeal to both Republicans and Democrats. He will need Congress' support for tax cuts, regulatory reform, and a rejuvenated military. We believe he can make three commitments, well within the president's constitutional authorities, to show that he will use the office in the public interest and to respect democracy, rather than lean toward authoritarianism.
First: The president-elect should promise a pardon, on day one, for Hillary Clinton. Article II of the Constitution places no limit on the president's power to "grant reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States," except for impeachment. Many Americans believe Clinton was guilty of conduct that would trigger prosecution of a lesser figure. But an actual prosecution would create the terrible appearance of pursuing his political opponents with criminal law. A prosecution would divert attention from all other Trump initiatives and discourage any compromise and cooperation from Democrats.
Saving the country from bitter turmoil is one of the reasons why the president has a pardon power. [snip] It would signal that Clinton violated the law with her private email server and mishandling of classified information. Nor would a pardon bar the Justice Department from fully investigating any corruption involving the Clinton Foundation. A pardon would show that a President-elect Trump can win with grace, put the nastiness of the campaign behind us all, and focus our energies on the future.

Hint there is going to be a bunch of prosecutions and being PC is no longer viable. If the mob riots it is their funeral too.
My perspective is that if there is an on-going investigations on the Clinton Foundation, election finance law violations, or other things, she should be given her date in court. No special treatment.
If Dem’s feel that politicians should be exempt then what was all that crap in Texas, Illinois, etc that were clearly political hits about? Oh that was just politics? Well dear Democrats, Karma is a Bitch!
Stopped reading after first sentence, stupid ...
Hey Jeremy, pardon her for what? Do tell.
BTW, I DID read the article...Nothing there to change my mind...
No!! He won’t betray the people who elected him. He won’t confirm the common belief that some people are more special than others and can get away with... well... anything.
If he pardons, I’ll be tuning out for the duration.
Here’s a knee-slapper:
<>But an actual prosecution would create the terrible appearance of pursuing his political opponents with criminal law.<>
Hillary sold her country and is hundreds of millions of dollars richer for it.
The rats have long practiced lawfare. I refer to Dick Cheney, Scooter Libby, TX Governor Tom Delay, Rick Perry, and Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. All were harassed by rat prosecutors who should have lost their law licenses.
We cannot allow the Clinton crimes to go unpunished.
No.
Make that TX governor Perry.
Ok, then. Truly, if you read my posts I think she should rot under the jail with her husband and her spawn, but that’s just me.
We don’t pardon traitors who have sold/auctioned off our national security.
Some of the treasonous acts of both Clintons rise to the level of hanging offenses. They passed Leavenworth years ago.
I can live with that, I love a good drama.
Umm, no.
If Hillary is pardoned, and she lives, she’ll be back in 2020 running on the campaign that “I won the popular vote in 2016. This time we’ll win it all!” Only exposure to sunlight will stop a vampire.
However, a pardon would permanently scar her legacy. Why does she need a pardon if she is not guilty of something?
No deals or pardons for Bill or Chelsea.
Good Point. Let her confess to the Nation for all she has done.
John Yoo, one of the authors of this article, is a CONSERVATIVE.
Do not take his opinion lightly. His book, Liberty’s Nemesis is an excellent read. I have an autographed copy that is 1/3 read. He understands political dynamics.
Exactly right. She does not deserve any special dispensation. Not any. She is a criminal and very probably a pedophile if Wiki Leaks is to be believed and all the stuff we’ve read over the years. No pardon.
Pardoning her would be like pardoning all the little Affluenzias and Clintonistsa and that crazy Guiterrez in LA. Illegal is illegal if not immoral and if not a perversion. And if the riots go on and continue to cost millions of dollars, they all should be deported. They don’t belong in MY country where people are generally much more civil and well behaved.
NO. NO pardon for Hilliary or Obama or Huma or any of that slime pack.
Ha ha, nice try.
Yes, I did read that...I think she should also...
But she won’t with a pardon, which you also said should be granted...
