Retiring Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, who was an outspoken supporter of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, is set to introduce a Senate bill that aims to end the Electoral College.
Boxer announced in a statement on Tuesday that the bill, which she planned to introduce later Tuesday afternoon, would determine the winner of presidential elections by the outcome of the popular vote.
She cited President-elect Donald Trump's victory in the Electoral College despite Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's apparent popular vote advantage.
Trump now praises Electoral College, says he could have won popular vote
"In my lifetime, I have seen two elections where the winner of the general election did not win the popular vote," Boxer said in a statement. "The Electoral College is an outdated, undemocratic system that does not reflect our modern society, and it needs to change immediately. Every American should be guaranteed that their vote counts."

Babs, all of those years in the Senate and you still never figured out that we live in a constitutional republic, not a democracy, hence in some ways we can be undemocratic. The founders put this in among other things so that we have a devolution of power and the majority cannot tyrannize the minority. I know you think that the California liberals are the most important people on the planet, but the founders thought that the farmers in Iowa and the ranchers in Wyoming were equally important and deserve a say....
A bill to end state recognition. Why even have states?
Why not pass a bill calling for a one party system? Same thing.
Not only that, but a mere piece of legislation wouldn’t do squat, this would have to be changed by a Constitutional Amendment. Which means this is just window-dressing and an attempt to paint Trump’s victory as illegitimate.
Someone submit a bill to repeal the 17th amendment.
How about something we can all get behind like a repeal of the 17th Amendment?
jinx :-)
Miz Boxer, you are a lame duck. Stop quacking.
It better not escape committee...
What a delusional pipe dream. Do you really think you can get 38 states to change the Constitution so that 25 of them will have LESS power in electing federal officials? The Leftist coasts would rule the federal government, and the vast bulk of the nation would be required to pay for their Socialist programs. That will NEVER happen unless we all vote for marijuana to be smoked in all 50 states 24/7.
Constitutional amendment there Babs.
The bill for mob rule.
Instead, let's introduce a bill to kick California out of the union.
Move FR first though.
Only an amendment to the Constitution can end the Electoral College.
So, Ms Boxer, your job, should you chose to pursue it, is to get 2/3 of Congress to agree to request that 3/4 of the states agree.
I wish you complete and total failure in your endeavor to further corrupt government.
Ms. Boxer is clearly not a part of the solution, which means she is part of the problem.
[Miz Boxer, you are a lame duck. Stop quacking.]
Don’t call her MS. Boxer... call her “SENATOR”! She worked hard to get that title!!

Any Wikileaks on Babs to share??
How, exactly, are Barbara Boxer and Hillary Clinton related?
California Sen. Barbara Boxer, sick of journalists hounding her about whether she would seek re-election in 2016, said Thursday that she would not.
She made the announcement in an interview with her grandson, Zach Rodham, who also happens to be Hillary Rodham Clintons nephew.
Boxer, a Democrat, has held the Senate seat since her election in 1992, after five terms in the House
Wait, wait, wait. How is it that her grandson is related to the former secretary of State and presumptive 2016 presidential candidate?
Zach Rodham, as the interactive Muckety map shows, is the son of Nicole Boxer, the senators daughter, and Tony Rodham, the secretarys brother. His parents divorced in 2000.
Good luck, b*tch.
Would let the election be decided by the voter fraud in one state... The electoral college contains voter fraud.
