How Trump Can Defeat the Establishment Bureaucracy
American Thinker ^ | November 16, 2016 | Michael Bargo, Jr.

Donald Trump has already distinguished himself as the first elected president of modern times to have had no previous political experience or close connections to the political establishment. His own party, the Republican Party, had many party diehards who refused to acknowledge his popularity with voters. Trump defeated the GOP establishment, won more primary votes than any Republican candidate in history, defeated the Democrat Party establishment, and the media establishment

He has one more establishment he must defeat: the Washington bureaucracy and its nationwide administrative infrastructure. This establishment was not elected. It owes its existence and political influence to the manipulation of the Democrat Party. So while he can appoint agency heads and try to execute his policy goals through them, he has an army of bureaucrats against him.

To understand the political and financial power of the bureaucracy it’s necessary to understand both its administrative structure and financial influence. It’s essential to understand how government has grown the bureaucracy and acted to protected it and enable it to protect itself.

The administrative bureaucracy that matters to Trump is the socioeconomic bureaucracy: those agencies that make policy for the distribution of entitlement benefits and education. Essentially, any agencies that deal with the public. The military is a very large bureaucracy but only can be used to implement foreign policy.

Pretty easy, really. Replace everyone down to the level of the “protected” and make life hell for the protected that refuse to leave. Earplugs to avoid the whining may be necessary. Trump supporters will not care about the caterwauling of the protected. In fact, WE DRINK THEIR TEARS!

Trump defeated the GOP establishment

**********

No he hasn’t. He won the election but the GOPe is still controlled by the Chamber of Commerce and other powerful lobbies. The GOPe still dances to their tune.

Before I get flamed, I’m not in any way diminishing Trump’s victory. He did win in spite of them and will push the GOPe to do things they don’t want to do. But Ryan and McConnell are still in charge of congress. Let’s not deceive ourselves into thinking they are going to give Trump everything he wants. They and others in congress have agendas that do not coincide with Trump’s.

Why would you get flamed...were not rats? You offered poignant analysis of the game on the field. The dimwits had no such analysis of either campaign and we see how that worked out for them!

If I could talk to President-Elect Trump (God, I love saying that), I would suggesting letting the rats eat each other. Offer incentives for bureaucrats to come forward and expose fraud and abuse and redundancy in the government. Award them a fee based on the percentage of money saved by their outings. This is what corporations do. Then, watch the beady-eyed rodents turn on the pack.

Thank you. After being in the political wilderness for so long many people, including myself, are rightly euphoric about Trump’s victory. However, I’m a little concerned that some of us might not be recognizing the landscape of political realities that are ahead of us. Just trying to keep things real. That’s the best way to avoid unnecessary disappointment.

And the Democrat media, with all their inside contacts with that Democrat bureaucracy, will be squealing like stuck pigs. Trump should pay NO attention to all that squalling. His voters should expect to hear outrage and slander and keep encouraging him and praying for him.

That is a good suggestion, especially with respect to the fraud, abuse and mismanagement. Believe me, that catalog will be HUGE.

However, Trump should also commission a study to be performed by a conservative think tank that takes a comprehensive look at government organization and functions with the purpose of defining redundancies, overlaps, and unnecessary programs. This is another fertile area for examination.

The Dumbos just got buried under a landslide, an avalanche, an earthquake, and a tsunami by the name of Trump.

They lost the White House, lost control of the U.S. House, and the U.S. Senate, as Republicans gained even more seats Dumbos had hoped to capture.

Not to mention down-ticket losses: Dumbos lost the vast majority of governorships and statehouses.

So the first thing they plan to do is put a radical America-hating Muslim Congressman as head of the DNC.

They’ll never learn.

Tell every bureaucrat to submit a written resignation to the president. Then start replying that you accept the resignation with a thank you for their service

I would say Trump won a major battle, but hasn’t won the war yet. There are still many battles left to fight.

The true test of Trump’s ability, will be his level of success in gaining control over the bureaucracy.

I think he should focus on getting his court nominees in place, as well as replacing every US attorney with his own people.

Once that is done, the first shot across the bow of the bureaucracy will be to take the most defiant one, and performing an anal probe of his agency, and the degree to which they follow the law and their own rules.

It’s been said that the laws are so convoluted that the average person can’t avoid committing at least one federal felony per day. Let’s see if that principle also applies to federal bureaucrats, if Trump’s DOJ appointees decide to look hard enough.

I agree that getting control over the bureaucracy is essential. Very few people understand how powerful and resistant to change they really are. The departments and agencies are literally infested with liberals who will drag their feet on everything Trump wants to do. Unfortunately, its nearly impossible to fire the majority of them.

That said, they will respond to some “shock therapy” like the one you suggested. Trump needs to immediately use one agency as an example of things to come. Let them know the new sheriff won’t tolerate obstruction and resistance.

Bureaucrats learn to live with changes in administrations. They just wait out those they don’t like. Ride out the storm so to speak. Trump has to show them that this is not an option this time around. Some heads will have to roll in order to change things and get the attention and cooperation of the bureaucrats.

It can be done. It just takes exceptional management.

How about rescinding JFK’s Executive Order allowing unionization of Government employees? Instant decertification of the SEIU! What an uproar would follow!

“protected”

I think he has authority to give protected govt employees new job assignments. Maybe he could start a massive public works project in Appalachia.

Trump can issue an Executive Order abolishing the Federal Employee’s Union. This is something he should do since that union donates 100% of it’s political contributions to Democrats. He can then systematically fire any obstructionist. DRAIN THE SWAMP! Now we know why establishment was soooo against him.

<>Trump and the Republican Congress should pass laws requiring that all regulatory changes should be delayed at least five years, or until such time as all court challenges have had the time to go through the Federal court system.<>

Not a bad idea, but there are better. I like a couple of Mark Levin’s Liberty Amendments. One requires a congressional majority every three years to continue each executive branch agency. Another requires a congressional committee to approve every agency rule. If no approval within six months, the proposed rule dies. Another, and my favorite, grants the state legislatures, on two thirds vote, to overrule any statute, regulation or scotus decision.
