Former GOP official: 'Stay away' from Trump transition
The Hill ^

Posted on 11/15/2016 10:55:46 AM PST by TigerClaws

Eliot Cohen, a former State Department official under President George W. Bush, is advising other Republican foreign policy experts to “stay away” from Donald Trump’s transition team just days after he encouraged them to help the president-elect.

"After exchange [with] Trump transition team, changed my recommendation: stay away,” Cohen wrote on Twitter Tuesday morning. “They're angry, arrogant, screaming ‘you LOST!’ Will be ugly.”

ADVERTISEMENT Cohen was the driving force behind a letter signed by dozens of former Republican officials during the campaign denouncing a Trump presidency as “dangerous.”

Last week, however, he struck a more conciliatory tone by trying to reassure those worried about the president-elect.

In a column in the American Interest published days after Trump’s election, Cohen dished out advice for foreign policy experts who have opposed Trump on whether they should accept a job in the administration.

“Yes, with two conditions, however: that they keep a signed but undated letter of resignation in their desk office (as I did when I was in government), and that they not recant a word of what they have said thus far,” Cohen wrote.

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) announced early Tuesday that he is leaving Trump's transition team.

Rogers, a former FBI special agent and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, is highly regarded among GOP leaders and was seen as an invaluable national security voice for the incoming administration.

Translation: Eliot wasn’t offered the job he wanted. Ditto for Mike Rogers.

Who the hell would hire George W. Bush’s foreign policy advisers? That would be like hiring the marine engineer who designed the Titanic.

It’s a RINO/former Bushie temper tantrum by a bunch of back stabbers .... thought they’d come in on the transition & get things to go THEIR way & the Trump transition team isn’t having any of it. Rogers totally pissed me off before he left Congress and I hated to see him come back. I believe folks the likes of say Dr. Simon Gorka, KT McFarland, etc. could probably help Trump on foreign policy/national security ... smart & have been Trump supporters.

I do NOT believe the transition team is going around angry & arrogant, yelling “YOU LOST” to people. Consider the source: “Cohen was the driving force behind a letter signed by dozens of former Republican officials during the campaign denouncing a Trump presidency as “dangerous.”

Exactly! They thought, “oh we’ll all just inundate his administration and it’ll be same old business as usual for us”
NOT!

No more Bush/Baker/Powell/Rice style “wouldn’t be prudent” “religion of peace” pro-arab oil sycophants

No more nation building. Our military should go after and destroy terrorists, not give out candy

Sounds like he didn’t get the appointment he wanted so he’s going all sour grapes on team Trump.

Sounds to me more like the transition team laughed at his foolishness in thinking he might get a position in this administration.

The Hill is a joke. So they cite some nevertrumpers, who were wrong about everything, in the tiny minority of inside the beltway rinos, as really good advice. Most likely eliot cohen already tried to sneak into the discussion and was spotted, and removed or told his help was not needed. then he went to the hill and threw a tantrum

GUARANTEE he is a nevertrumper, who acted like an undermining jerk, but tried to get in again and was told no.

Bush RINOs need not apply. We have suffered enough from their push for one world government.
