MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico is starting to seriously contemplate the possibility that millions of its migrants could be deported, and the picture is not pretty.

Under proposals put forward by President-elect Donald Trump, Mexico could see millions of people streaming back with no jobs available; the country might lose some of the billions of dollars in remittances sent home annually; and some jobless deportees could swell the ranks of drug cartels, sparking more violence.

Gov. Hector Astudillo of the southern state of Guerrero considered the possible scenario over the weekend. At least a million Guerrero residents live in the United States, many without proper documents, and the state is already reeling from drug gang violence and poverty.

"Of course Guerrero is not in any condition to receive the million or more than one million migrants" in the U.S., Astudillo said. "On the contrary, they have been an important mainstay in supporting the economy of Guerrero."

which means Americans can be employed once again. Yea! And we’ll actually pay taxes so that Trump will have money to fund the infrastructure he wants to fix. Double win.

the country might lose some of the billions of dollars in remittances sent home annually;

The operative word is HOME, they aren't dreamers. Their dream is to follow the money.

And that is billions of dollars sucked out of the US economy.

I wonder how many of them then appeal to the State/charity to make up for the shortfall of income they wired home.

But. But. What about all of the factories and jobs we’ve sent to Mexico?

The corruption in the capital makes the Clintons look like Ozzie and Harriet.

No reason for them to change since we have been willing partners to take their problems off their hands.

Why the hell not? You had them in Guerrero when they boogied it across our border? They must have come from you twerps' state since you depend so heavily on remittances back from them to family members there.

I don’t care. They need to straighten their own country out instead of leaching off of us.

That makes no sense. These people are not criminals. They are hard-working, peaceful, and productive - model citizens. Mexico is better off with these people in their own country. How could violence and joblessness go up with the added diversity back in Mexico?

Given that, the burden should be on Mexico to create an environment in its own country where jobs can and should be plentiful and the populace is encouraged to work hard, innovate, and save. Or are a few basics from dear Uncle Miltie too much to ask for nowadays?

More likely those million more voters won’t be too happy with the current governance in their new locale. The joblessness the gov is worried about is his own.

Is this an admission that Trump was right when he said Mexico was sending us its criminals?

Cry me a river.

So instead Mexico wants us to absorb their overpopulation or lack of jobs, their insane, and criminals so we are overpopulated, more crime, and have a lack of jobs? Seriously? They are turning this around on us when it was their problem in the first place?

Hint to Mexico. Use your new labor pool to build lots of prisons for your newly returned criminals then round up the cartels and fill them up. Jobs galore between building them, maintaining them, and staffing them. How you pay for it to confiscate the drug money the cartels collect by the semi full.

Our drug problem will lessen and so will your kidnapping problem. Your prisoners live on bread and water as it is. That costs next to nothing.
