Harry Reid and the Horse He Rode In On
WSJ ^ | 11/14/2016 | WSJ

Harry Reid...[t]he soon-to-be-former Democratic Senate leader issued a statement Friday... “The election of Donald Trump has emboldened the forces of hate and bigotry in America... White nationalists, Vladimir Putin and ISIS are celebrating Donald Trump’s victory, while innocent, law-abiding Americans are wracked with fear—especially African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Muslim Americans, LGBT Americans and Asian Americans. Watching white nationalists celebrate while innocent Americans cry tears of fear does not feel like America.”

Crazy Harry went downhill from there, and Democratic Senator Joe Manchin... was appalled enough to issue a public rebuke: “Senator Harry Reid’s statement today...is wrong! It is an absolute embarrassment... I want to be very clear, he does not speak for me..."

Mr. Reid will be gone with the current Congress but Republicans may miss him considering all he has done to help them. By killing the filibuster...he has made it easier for Mr. Trump to get his nominees confirmed... By stretching the rules for budget reconciliation, he has set a precedent for Republicans to repeal much of ObamaCare...

And by blocking vote after vote... Reid made it impossible for Democrats...to differentiate themselves from President Obama...

we hope the Trump Administration takes another look at the nuclear-waste repository at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. ...Mr. Reid promised Mr. Obama that he would do the President’s dirty work on Capitol Hill if the President blocked the Yucca project. Mr. Obama named Reid aide Gregory Jaczko as chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 2009, and a year later Mr. Jaczko shut it down...

A pair of D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals rulings have since rebuked the Administration for violating the law in relation to Yucca, and in 2014 a government study found that the Yucca design for waste is environmentally safe...

Mr. Trump owes no political debt to Nevada...

I do think that Yucca Mountain needs to be opened for business. For lots of reasons, in fact.

The repository doesn't need to hold the waste for millions or billions of years. It only needs to hold it until it becomes profitable to recycle it, which will be at most a hundred or so years.

Harry Reid, soon to be known as “Straight-jacket Harry” has long since lost what few marbles he came into this world with.

There's so much that I'd like to say to Dirty Harry but this is the first:

One objective for the lame duck session should be to censure Dirty Harry for the things he has said in the Well of the Senate. What a fitting tribute!

Surprising but heartening.

Someone needs to drive Harry out into the desert.

Preferably around daybreak.

So... Everyone else is a hyphenated American except “white nationalists”?

Seems logically wrong.
but, it is Harry Reid.

From the article: “Mr. Reid will be gone with the current Congress but Republicans may miss him considering all he has done to help them.”

Never fear, John McCain will do all he can to damage them. This sick man revels in sticking his thumb in the eye of his own party. He will want to restore the filibuster in the name of bi-partisanship. He will say things like “well, we want the filibuster when we are in the minority and would not want it taken from us.” He will quickly forget that he said that before and, despite not getting rid of the filibuster, Harry Reid and the dems gleefully did in order to pack the courts.

In all my glee over Trump’s victory I have not forgotten what fueled his rise in the first place. It was being stabbed in the back by McCain and his ilk. You can’t change a leopards spots and this guy will continue to undermine us. He needs to be dealt with.

WV went for Trump by over 60%, Manchin is up in 2 years, he’s trying to save his own skin.
He also sponsored anti-gun legislation, which is very unpopular in WV.

Didn’t Dingy Harry get a black eye falling off the horse he rode in on?

Maybe the horse was named Moose or Rocko.

I do hope Dante was right and there’s a circle of Hell just for Harry Reid, which is nothing but an endless treadmill.

It amazes me what can be said from the Senate floor ... anything! A total lie, and there is no consequence (Romney and Taxes). But Harry is going to trip up and try this after he is out of office and he will not have Senate rules protecting him. He’s a target for a libel suit (of orange).

Ayotte and Kirk voted for Gang of Eight and were removed from office. That’s good.
Murkowsky, Hoeven, McCain and Rubio all voted for Gang of Eight and were re-elected. That was a mistake
Heller, Corker, Hatch and Flake all voted for Gang of Eight and are up in 2018. They all need to be Cantorized.
Alexander and Graham need to Cantorized in 2020.
everyone of them betrayed the citizens and needs to be removed from office.

On the other hand, his LRU (line replacement unit) cat mantos will have plenty of strings attached for him to pull. I can almost guarantee she won’t make a single step without hairy pulling the strings.

Good work Harry. You just managed to almost single handedly undo the little progress your party made in the Senate. Don’t stop now!

I read a translation of The Inferno when I was in high school. It had notes explaining who all the people were who were in hell (according to Dante), but that was before Harry Reid was well known so the note on the mention of him just said, "Nothing is known about this person."
