Hi Charlie. Will BuzzFeed be doing a post-truth follow-up article on me :), it read. It was unexpected and my heart sank just a little bit. I screenshot his initial text and sent it to my editor with a note: Ugh, Bill Mitchell just owned me so hard...
For Mitchell, Trumps victory was the ultimate vindication. After a year and a half of scornful taunts and mocking retweets from liberal mainstream journalists and pollsters; after constant Twitter arguments and unflattering, condescending stories about his lack of experience and expertise; after 15 months of unfaltering certainty in the face of endless criticism, Bill Mitchell a strong-jawed, silver-haired executive recruiter from North Carolina with a Twitter account, a gift for word images, and no prior political experience was no longer the butt of anyones smug joke.
As a result of his 15-month loyalty to the #TrumpTrain, election night was good to Mitchell. By his own (unconfirmed) estimate, his Twitter page racked up 80 million impressions and 400,000 retweets that evening. When victory was certain, he claims to have received thankful direct messages from Trumps two sons, Eric and Donald Jr., as well as campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, thanking him for his enthusiasm and analysis over Twitter. I wont tell you what they said, but it was very nice and appreciative.
If I were to describe Trumps kids, Id say theyre just really nice and pleasant normal folks, which is remarkable considering how rich they are...
I think the wall will become the next new great American monument. Like the Statue of Liberty, the wall is a monument to our sovereignty...

I followed him on election but did not know of him before. He was stressing that the dems put their big vote tallys in the count early this election and not to worry. He was very good.
In retrospect, Bill Mitchell comes away looking like a genius. He was relentless on Twitter, and as a Trump devotee he made Sean Hannity look like an amateur.
I followed him too for the first time then and also the interactive electoral map and FR.
Bill was/is a lion and deserves great credit.
Mitchell almost single handedly kept my hopes alive on election night. He was a rock for me emotionally.
Bill Mitchell kept me sane on election night, along with LS and many others on FR.
I had bought some whiskey for the romney campaign and never opened it. Mitchell’s twiiter accound convinced me to crack open my bottle at 920 pm with a thought that this was doable.
I somehow stumbled on Bill’s twitter feed during the summer - I do not have a twitter account so I bookmarked it & checked in now and again. Whenever a “bad” poll for Trump came out (all of them were, really) , I’d check out what Bill had to say & always felt better for doing it.
Election night, I watched Hallmark Christmas movies (yes, they are on already) & followed Bill’s twitter feed. I was able to keep calm and hopeful until it came down to that final state (MI or PA) for the win. I finally tuned in to FOX because I wanted to see the reaction of their so-called ‘pundits’ and the explosion of joy from the Trump crowd waiting for the results .... what a night.
“Silver Elvis” gets kudos from me .... I need to find a way to thank him without joining twitter!
Yep, Bill Mitchell and LS are awesome. Checked them constantly through election.
MAGA!!!
Mitchell has boundless optimism grounded in facts an extraordinarily keen analysis. He’s a treasure.
LS, you received high praise in post 11. Wouldn’t want you to miss it. :)
Like Mitchell, I thought Trump would win a solid victory. But Mitchell gets carried away. There was no “monster vote,” and the states Trump won were “just barely” states. ALL these can be held and margins expanded in 2020, and new states like VA, CO, NH, NM, and NV can be added . . .
HOWEVER, this won’t happen if some on our side keep pretending Trump won by a monster vote as Mitchell does. This was a skin-of-our-teeth vote, decided by HALF the margin of 2012, except in more states. That’s razor thin.
As soon as Team Trump gets settled, they need to embark on a major voter registration/outreach designed to once and for all expand the base so we aren’t having to white knuckle it every election night.
Thanks, but as much as I like Mitchell, he was way too optimistic, especially about the vote totals. He continued to predict a monster vote. I (wrongly) continued to predict a much lower vote (62m for Trump). He was much further off than I.
“There was no monster vote,”
I disagree, because that depends on who voted HONESTLY. Donald had many many people out to vote who don’t usually. Just because others chose to stay home or the Dems had many fraudulent votes counted, or machines that maybe flipped or didn’t tally votes correctly does not mean there was not a monster vote. Many state totals I saw nov 9th were not far off 2012 numbers BUT lots of poll locations that were reported in news said much larger early votes and election day votes that usual - so some thing is amiss in all that.
3 million illegal votes so far?

Mitchell thought CA and NY would be closer. Since I did too, I can’t fault him. He was my mainstay on election night; I owe him bigly.
Again, for the third time: fraud and illegals do not change Trump’s vote total, only inflate Cankles.
Folks, if we can’t get a grip on basic reality here, this revolution won’t last more than a week. This was an incredible miracle, but you cannot rely on miracles every election. The conservative wing needs to GREATLY increase its voter base.
As of a couple of days ago there were 9 million legal votes that hadn’t yet been counted. I don’t know the timetable, so that’s the extent of my info for now.
