(CNN)Australia will transfer hundreds of refugees currently held in offshore detention centers to the United States in a landmark deal announced Sunday. The plan is a "one-off agreement. It will not be repeated," Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said at a press conference.
Turnbull added that the deal would only be available "to those currently in the regional processing centers" and will prioritize "women, children and families." Around 1,300 people are currently being held in offshore detention on the Pacific Island nation of Nauru, and Papua New Guinea's Manus Island. The majority of the detainees come from the Middle East and South Asia, with Iran and Afghanistan providing the bulk of the refugees.

Even at Manus the guards called Barati an animal. He was an absolute terrorist and longed to enter AU to kill the people there.
Not the US’s problem? Who decided to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, Syria?
It is a one-off event, as said in posted article.
It is a deal which takes into account quotas for refugees per country - Australia and USA. The deal is WITHIN current quota for refugees accepted by USA.

Have to acknowledge what Oztrich Boy said, above.
If you don’t like refugees then don’t start wars. Don’t destabilise the M.E. and N. African countries, and or don’t prolong wars. Because wars and political & economic destabilisation, to overthrow regimes too, result in mass exodus, hence in Refugees.
Australia is sending US a wee collection of persona non gratis.
It’s a very strange arrangement imo. I’ll wait and see what happens.
Not possible. There are big walls around the Vatican.
F... U obama, F... U australia...
I’ve also read at least a dozen reports of the 1% Christian refugees from Iraq and Syria being beaten, thrown off of boats at sea, robbed, raped, etc. by the 99% of Muslim refugees...
The Muslims gang up on the helpless minorities in their midst -— the Christians and Yazidis -— and abuse them as badly as ISIS ever abused them.
Which tells you what you need to know.
