Members of the Hell's Angels motorcycle club went to Lee Circle and surrounded the Robert E. Lee monument Thursday.
The development came after New Orleans and other American cities were roiled by a wave of vandalism by those lashing out after the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States.
Protesters took to the streets again later that night, but in a much more peaceful manner.
New Orleans Police Superintendent Michael Harrison held a press conference hours earlier to detail the NOPD strategy for handling those protests.

Tens of thousands have died in around the globe from similar efforts. I don’t see it succeeding here, but it is a threat that should be eradicated. It’s not a joke. People have already been attacked here.
In blue cities, that are in blue counties.
My city is blue-ish, but is surrounded by some of the most reddest places in America.
Lots of conservative money rebuilt the central part of my town, so our little wannabe revolutionaries know better than to pull anything or else they will get a boot in their ass.
As long as the worse of rioting takes place in places that didn’t even vote for Trump, they are no more effective than BLM or Occupy Wall St..
They are just terrorizing other leftists. Once the ones that are being victimized wise up, they will just fall over to our side, and they will become even more isolated.
Actually most of them joined gangs because when they returned, their government failed them!

Really? I think years from now they will be bragging about it.
I don’t know any Hell’s Angels, but I do know that the many bikers I’ve known over the years are some of the finest and most honorable, most patriotic and loyal people on Earth. You can’t have a better friend or a worse enemy.
I think most cops would just stand back...let the bikers clean up their “mess”, sending the fake-protesters to the hospital, and let the bikers quietly drive out. Five or six events like that, and everyone would get back to reality and shut up.
This fine fellow tortured and killed witnesses to Hells Angels crimes.
My brother owned a motorcycle accessory shop for years. I used to deal with Hell’s Angels at all the vendor shows and occasionally in the shop. They were always so polite and sweet around me. Shocked me at first too. Most are pretty patriotic.
The blame for all the violent protests should be placed on the msm. They promised the people Hellary would win. Every day, 24/7/365, they promised. The sheeple were so brainwashed and followed the almighty talking heads but their little make believe world came crashing down.
Folks, that’s how communism is so easily created. Pay attention and be aware. The brainwashing can happen in such a short period of time.
How soon I forget. It’s the Saul Alinsky’s, Bill Ayers’, Bernadine Dorn’s, Hillary Clinton’s, and Barack Obama’s who won’t recant or even be embarrassed by the anarchy they encourage.
You’re right. Those folks are proud of their messes. There will be others who are proud of the messes they made this week. They shouldn’t be.
