New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, chairman of President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, tells TODAY “there’s a lot of things about him there that the public has not seen.” Christie says he and Trump have not discussed whether there is a position for Christie in the Trump White House: “We spoke on election night, but we didn’t speak about me.”

I regret it; Donald will put him to work somehow. He is too talented to give up on.

“Christie has been loyal since the primaries. I believe President Trump will remember that.”

yeah, all the Christie haters here forget that Christie was one of the first on the Trump Train, even taking out Rubio for Trump in one of the last debates in which Christie was still putatively opposing Trump.

Two of Christie’s subordinates were just convicted. Christie is also, shall we say, weak on 2A. And, finally, that Obama hug in 2012, fair or not, enough of the base credits that debacle for Obama’s victory in 2012.

Whether real or perceived, Christie has too much baggage, and Trump cannot risk any kind of distraction at this critical time.

Rubio helped Trump across the finish line in Florida. Christie did diddly squat for Trump in New Jersey. Everyone knows he’s baggage and is a divisive figure on the team. By the time the top cabinet is formed he’ll be on the lower rung of the ladder or back in New Jersey.

So, that puts you in the Delta Quadrant?

Maybe. I'm starting in the eastern time zone.

Perhaps Christie is doing what Rudy and Newt have been doing - holding the cards close to their chests because Trump wishes it for now so there are no Keystone Kops moments for the LSM to jump all over.

Last I heard, Christie remains Vice Chair of the Transition team and still may end up in a prominent position in Trump's admin.
