They have to think creatively, as no candidate in living memory has denounced the press as he has; no candidate has banned journalists from covering him because they didn't like the tone or substance of what [journalists] are saying.

As an attorney he should know that there is a big difference in supporting/defending free speech versus proving libel/slander in a court of law especially

All the media did was lie about Trump and now we should sue him because he doesn’t fit our lies?
Trump doesn’t look like the template we laid out, thus it’s libel?
Is that the argument?

With the Left, you could be walking down the street chewing gum and be guilty of enough crimes to put you away in prison. Spit that gum out on the sidewalk, and you get life.
I have an answer for these nit pickers: Go back to the planet you came from. Bring a pack of gum.

They should go for it.
Trump can afford truly masterful lawyers.
Can you imagine what the Discovery process wound find?
The level of coordination with Democrat Party, and the general lack of ethics would doom their suit and leave them open to being counter-sued.
“Journalists” would have to erase and shred their hard drives - and that might not be enough!

Abrams points to the Supreme Court's decision to deny President Bill Clinton's immunity request and not delay in its 1997 decision over Paula Jones' sexual harassment lawsuit. The lawyer says he disagreed with the outcome at the time, but is now thankful there's no flat rule protecting a president from having to respond to a civil lawsuit. So he's another standard-issue leftist who lives by double standards. Got it.

"If what he's saying is merely rhetorical or hyperbolic in the sense of 'reporters are no good,' that would not give [the journalist] a right [to sue]," answers Abrams. "But if he seems to mean it, if he says a reporter is routinely publishing false material, then maybe we're moving down the road where a reporter responds by not only saying, 'It is not so,' but by going to court." Ummm, within their profession aren't reporters 'public figures'? And Trump's comments would be the equivalent of a show 'review'... an opinion about a person potting themselves out in the public? This strikes me as skating on thin ice...
