Vice President-elect Pence to Take Over Trump Transition Effort
nyt ^ | November 11, 2016 | MICHAEL D. SHEAR, MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT and MAGGIE HABERMANNOV

Mr. Trump’s administration is being assembled behind the scenes. But like much else in the nation’s capital, little stays secret for long.

The list of names being mentioned as possibilities for crucial posts in Mr. Trump’s cabinet is growing by the hour, giving official Washington what it craves most: a never-ending parlor game as speculation grows about who might actually get the nod.

A big revelation may come soon, according to Mr. Trump himself, who took to Twitter on Friday morning with some news. “Busy day planned in New York,” the president-elect said. “Will soon be making some very important decisions on the people who will be running our government.” ...

For now, the vice president-elect, Mike Pence, will play a more prominent role, according to two advisers to Mr. Trump, as will Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama. Both Mr. Pence and Mr. Sessions have been involved in the transition since it began, but Mr. Christie’s role may now change, according to the advisers.

...

Mr. Giuliani told CNN on Thursday that he might accept an appointment as attorney general, saying that “there’s probably nobody that knows the Justice Department better than me.”

With respect, although I understand your opinion re presidential pardons, the Constitution is quite clear:

United States Constitution, Article II, Section 2, The President shall...have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

There is only one limiting clause (cases of impeachment). Otherwise, for all offenses against the United States, the president's power to grant reprieves and pardons is unlimited.

Gowdy is not the guy for this. He got nothing done in the House. Rudy knows what to do and is world-class effective.

Don’t get hung up on the pardon, where there needs to be an entire cleaning out of the DoJ, FBI, CIA, etc.

I kind of disfavor Giuliani because he believes presidential pardon powers are absolute.

Giuliani explained yesterday that a pardon comes with a price tag. The pardoned has to accept the pardon and in accepting the pardon, the pardoned admits guilt.

I think this is why Bush 43 commuted Scooter Libby's sentence and didn't pardon him.

I should have made myself more clear. It is the pardon that before anyone has been charged with a crime. And yes, I heard of Ford’s pardon of Nixon.

Yeah, Rudy seemed to be arguing that there wasn’t disqualifying evidence re: Lynch —

He wont be able to tweet on his own. The account would be subject to FOIA requests. Obummer had to do the same.

A twitter account is fine, but Trump does need someone like Kellyanne or whomever to hold the keys as his editor.

Otherwise he just steps into it with unattractive insults too often.

Yes, he’s been stepping into it so much lately. Hard to imagine how he even won, he’s so incompetent.

Twitter was a major part of what got him elected. Lot of weaklings didn’t want Trump to be Trump.

Pence and Sessions and he jettisons the RINO Christie?

Bull sh*t. Christie and Giuliani have both been assigned vice chairs to the transition team.

Leftist Levin isn’t call the shots here.

This is such an exciting time for America! I know we have a rough road ahead to accomplish everything that Trump wants to do, but it is doable. Go, Trump!

They are talking about Jared Kuchner, his son in law, as Chief of Staff. Trump runs a VERY tight ship and has a VERY limited, mostly family-only, insider core.

I think Comey should be a Trump decision after an interview. I dont think we know the whole story. Comey might be key.

This is Pence's wheelhouse, let him roll

Trump, Pence, and Sessions. What a great decision making trio. I'm assuming Flynn will be part of it with military issues.

It's real good if Trump doesn't elevate anyone to too much power who wasn't with him within a few weeks after the convention. The tentacles of those who tried a coup just over a month ago run real deep.

I hope he uses Santorum. Even an ambassador somewhere. I like his beliefs of sactity of marriage and abortion. Ambassador of the Vatican or Italy. Not sure we have that. Some scoff at ambassador jobs but I knew two South Korean ambassadors and it is a respectable position at least to me.
