Same thing happened to the Republicans during the primary - nobody tried to take him out because they figured he’d blow himself up and was a media hog “clown”. By the time they figured out the sails on the Trump boat were starting to fill with the winds of “revolution” by ‘We the People’, he was already pulling ahead and beat the whole lot of them.
