What is kind of scary is that my county went for Hillary. I don’t actually live in Houston (work there, though). I live in Fort Bend County, which is next door to Harris County. It has heretofore been a conservative area. Tom DeLay was our U.S. Congressman for a long time. His replacement, Pete Olson won handily, but Hillary won the POTUS vote. Maybe there was a strong streak of Never-Trumpism among the Fort Bend republicans. Or, it could be an influx of muslims. I usually see quite a few when I go to Costco. When I used to go to Sam’s, I would see a fair amount of people dressed in African garb.
Fort Bend is the most diverse county in Texas and is now only 46% white. The growing minority population is making it lean more Democrat. A county with a similar population makeup is Gwinnett County, Georgia. It also switched to blue this year.
