Election 2016: To say that Donald Trump's decisive election victory is a stunning development is the understatement of the century. This election makes Truman's surprise win over Dewey look positively pedestrian. The repercussions are enormous, but so are the opportunities.
First and foremost, Trump's victory is a thunderous rebuke to the legions of pundits and armies of pollsters who said it couldn't happen, and the mainstream press that declared all-out war on his candidacy. In the days leading up the election, every poll except the IBD/TIPP tracking poll showed Hillary Clinton winning by a wide margin in a four-way race. Newspapers declared that Trump's chances were minimal, if not impossible, while running wall-to-wall hit pieces on Trump. Pundits acted as though the election was over.
Their blindness had more to do with ideological and cultural biases than anything else...
Trump's win is also a gigantic thumb in the eye of a political establishment...
...if nothing else, Trump has finally, mercifully pulled the plug on the long unseemly, corrupt Clinton machine that has for too long tainted the political process. Good riddance...
...What does a Donald Trump presidency mean for the country, and what responsibilities does this election bring to his opponents and supporters? What priorities does Trump need to focus on?...
...Republicans will have to work hard to keep Trump focused on those conservative priorities. Ending Obama's eight-year economic slog has to be job No. 1...
That means achieving three things as quickly as possible: getting his tax cuts enacted particularly on the corporate side overhauling Dodd-Frank and getting rid of ObamaCare.
Republicans will also have to work hard to temper Trump's anti free-trade instincts...
On foreign policy, we live in dangerous times. Obama has left the country weaker...

“This election makes Truman’s surprise win over Dewey look positively pedestrian...”
It WAS NOT a surprise to me in anyway.
Hillary's global pay-to-play scam is ended. Now to investigate what was the quid pro quo, the cui bono, the ou est meum, hopfully even the mea culpas, the mea culpas, the mea maxima culpas.
On Nov 9th I was experiencing withdrawal symptoms - no Trump speeches to watch :(
In the coming days when POTUS-elect Trump has any press conferences or announcements - I hope there are still places on the internet like Right Side Broadcasting where I can watch these videos in their pure form - so I am not forced to endure the drive-by media spin
Oh - and I don’t want to have to pay for CNN in my cable bill anymore - ever. I want an a-la-carte system where I can choose to pay for only those cable channels I watch - I think it could be as simple as having the cable box keep track of the channels I watch (I’m sure they do that now) and bill me accordingly
The Donald’s victory came as a surprise only to inside-the-beltway self-styled elites and the msm jerks who really seem to have believed their polls.
Everyone else on Planet Earth could see that normal folks were sick and tired of all the One-World Globalist crapola.
Klowdtv has oann for a few bucks a month.
I think what appalled America is that these two are completely oblivious
about their off-putting personalities coupled w/ their destructive policies.
Liberals whine about "Fascism" but they wouldn't know Fascism if they
tripped over it sipping lattes in Starbucks.
And they stupidly worship the swaggering Obama, whose lawlessness, and
contempt for the democratic process, is as close to a Fascist as we have
seen since the era of the mugging, swaggering Mussolini.

A couple of things:
1) IBD was WRONG, just less wrong than the rest. The 2% pop margin they called wss 2% off. Trump lost the pop vote.
2) BUILD THE WALL. The SINGLE biggest promise he made must be kept quickly. This, even above economic stuff (longer, harder to do) will separate him from all recent counterparts.
3) Without at all violating his defense commitment, he can withdraw troops from Europe and Korea and gain immediate savings.
Truman ? whoa, how old are you ?
The PPD poll had the closest spread - .06 difference between the candidates.
That one sentence (if nothing else, Trump has finally, mercifully pulled the plug on the long unseemly, corrupt Clinton machine that has for too long tainted the political process. Good riddance... ) gives us hope - but I believe the Clintons will insert themselves into media assets to maintain their ‘royal standing’. We are stuck with their images until they meet their maker.
.....the Center for Responsive Politics reports Clinton pocketed $22 million in contributions from the wealthy/liberal entertainment industry, compared to a mere $290,000 for Trump...
Take a look at the map of what Clinton won....the top 10 populations centers where most of the wealth, commerce and power is located.....and a couple of SW states that have a huge influx of Mexican immigrants.
Hillary lost the bulk of America.
Just goes to prove....the liberal rich talk only amongst themselves and their hired Mexican help.
I hadn't even considered that. Hillary on every Sunday morning. Perhaps, having lost, she no longer has any currency, literally and figuratively.
I commented on another thread that perhaps Hillary's stranglehold on the media is broken. Her threats carry no weight now and she'll be treated like she treated others.
I'm hopeful. Actually, guardedly optimistic.
Which is why there is so much hysteria.
These polls, the news was massaged so much, was so biased that their own constituencies believed it. Now you see the inane emotionalism of Hillary’s loss on them. The leftist media and political operatives are responsible & must think it’s funny how they have reduced their constituencies to emotionally stunted village idiots.
“...Trump’s anti free-trade instincts...”
That’s a lie. He is not anti-free trade.
He is for free trade that goes both directions. Currently most of the free trade with the USA goes in only the out direction. We buy from them and they buy nothing from us. Trump wants to turn this around.
The Clintons may try, but I bet Obama moves to wrest control of the DNC and expel Clinton operatives fairly quickly. She may be kept around as a token elder statesman like Bill, but I think the dems will try to push the Clinton’s out.
Besides, Obama is remaining in DC and the media will be beating a path to his door to have him comment on everything a Trump administration does.
The article pretty much agrees with you.
I suspect IBD was right at 2%...but they didn’t factor in rampant fraud that boosted Hillary’s numbers.
