Last time I was in L.A., I thought I was in Mexico.
I believe secession is just a formality.

They don’t want California to secede. They want coastal California to secede. The interior and the eastern parts of California are red state America. Let them go, we’ll free up the farmland and make America great again.
It can be somebody talking "seriously" about something that nobody can really take seriously.
There was some talk years back about northern California joining Oregon, Washington, and (maybe) British Columbia in an ecotopian Cascadia.
That's not something I'd expect to happen any time soon either, but northern California and southern California hate each other so much that it's hard to imagine they'd be happy alone together.
Plus, what happens when the big one hits? What do they do then?
Yes, that was what I meant, CA to build a wall around itself, then we can extend it to the east along the border. HA
Maybe the new State of Jefferson will be carved out of northern and rural CA and southern OR. I have many friends in CA and they are conservative, and live in rural areas mostly.
Just keep growing the produce and making the vino for Mrs. Sooner and it'll be cool.

Once Trump is in the WH and the illegals are gradually removed - and the criminal ones not gradually - and “sanctuary cities” lose their fed $$, and the border laws and other laws are actually enforced - CA will be quite different.
The north coast is mostly liberal too.
It's the inland counties that are more conservative.
Here in the north state we prefer to call our new state the STATE OF JEFFERSON, not northern california.

My tried and true adage for some time has been that if you can see a mountain or an ocean from your house, you won’t be allowed to vote (except for the Appalachians.) The Gulf of Mexico doesn’t count.
