The United States as a Dam
The American Thinker ^ | Nov 5, 2016 | William Campenni

Donald Trump is not a Hoover Dam, with its grace and beauty. No, he is that quintessential dirt cofferdam. He doesn't look pretty, and he was not meant to be permanent. But he is the necessary stop on the flood of malign forces – political corruption, cronyism, amorality – that are destroying America's culture, cohesion, history, and goodness.

So many idiotic meanderings, and so little time...

This past 17 months we have found that there are almost no Washington insiders who support Conservatism. We have also learned that some who profess to, are incapable of sticking to Conservatism over time.

Who are these supposed Conservative leaders who desire a Hoover Dam of Conservatism? There are essentially NONE!

How then is Trump supposed to be a temporary coffer damn?

Undeniably, Trump is the Hoover Dam.

If he isn’t pray tell who that person might be?

Is a temporary coffer dam beating Clinton?

Wow do we have a bunch of idiot writers out there these days.

Donald Trump is singlehandedly swerving this nation back to the right.

Almost no Washington support has deemed his efforts to do this worthy of their support. None of them are campaigning with him daily. Not one!

Donald Trump is changing the flow of our nation, and I am very thankful.

There are lessons from history for this election.

Republics start to die when the Political Elites are allowed by the people to simply set aside the rule of law.

Voters have one last chance to hold Clinton Crime Inc, accountable at the voting booth Nov 8, 2016.

The United States has acted more like “the restrainer” than a dam. Restraining the forces of evil until the days have been accomplished. Ataturk turned Turkey into “the restrainer” in the Islamic world, but now that restrainer has been “taken out of the way”.

The end is near. This election will determine if the United States will be a “sheep” or a “goat” nation, but it will not change the timing of the end. That is written in the stars: The Revelation 12:1-2 Great Sign in the Heavens will arrive September 23-24, 2017. Whatever that means, it puts us smack dab in the middle of the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Maranatha

HE IS AMERICA’S BULLDOG, and we better get behind him and get the hell out and vote, we can only nail Hillary bill and their criminals if we do. We need a grand jury to facilitate searches and an investigation that will produce results. If she wins she’s free and clear, do you think our BALL LESS FECKLESS TURNCOAT GOP WILL DO ANYTHING?

Well said.

The difference in a coffer dam and the Hoover dam is that one takes a few dedicated people and some earth moving equipment and the other takes an army to build.

We are the army - not the politicians who have, as you said, failed us miserably.

If Trump wins we will have to force our elected leaders to participate or we will have to remove them ala the TEA party election. If we become complacent and lazy there will be no long term change and all of this will be swept away in short order.

It will be difficult for Trump to implement his plans in the first two years because I expect the traitors in congress to fight him every step of the way. The mid-term election will be the most interesting one in a very long time.

As we learned after 9/11 - it is very easy for a nation to become angry, but it is very difficult to sustain that anger into meaningful action. This is an angry election, but we have to sustain our demands for real change or history will reveal #draintheswamp to be nothing more than a speed bump on the progressive highway.

The first battle ends next week and the next begins immediately.

I think there’s plenty of reason to express those sentiments and thoughts there.

I have never seen a Congress go against their own party though.

Congress wasn’t even in Reagan’s pocket for much of the time, but he was able to move them toward his agenda. That’s not to say he didn’t pay a price for it. The budget took a serious hit even though he doubled the federal income. Trouble is, Congress time and a halved his income increases.

Congress will go along with Trump. He has won the will of the public, and they’ll pay heavily if they don’t. They may whine, but they know it.

I have the deepest admiration for Reagan, but we would do well to remind ourselves of how he did what he did.

Reagan decided to win the cold war without a war - he was completely committed to it. To accomplish this he had to work with Tip and Foley so he agreed to deficit spending (even as he grew revenue). Prior to his Presidency we did not have the deficit spending model - it’s was “beans or bullets.” He told them if you will give me bullets I will give you beans. He accomplished the unthinkable and brought the Bear to its knees without war and for that we owe him an eternal debt of gratitude.

The failure came after Reagan because congress enjoyed the money and everyone was happy because they did not have to make hard decisions and the constant deficit spending model was born and congress is addicted to it.

The next President will inherit a crushing deficit and the economic reset that will occur when the Fed finally raises rates. It will be a bumpy ride and the rats in congress will fight tooth and nail to preserve what they have built no matter what. The deficit is far beyond anything that Reagan and those of his era could have imagined. The bloated government and government programs are far beyond what we had coming out of the Carter years.

Reagan got what he wanted because he gave them what they wanted. I don’t think Trump will have that luxury nor does he have that personality. He is a businessman and he has some great ideas to cut spending. I would respectfully submit that it will be an epic battle and war because the Reagan model won’t work.

We have the votes in congress, but that is predicated upon us finding a speaker and Senate Majority leader who will push his plan. We don’t have that right now and it is unlikely we will for the first two years. I don’t see anything about the GOP in congress that gives me hope. They are for the most part a bunch of milquetoast “go along and get along” types with little fire. They were swept into power by the TEA party and they have not cut spending by a dime.

My prediction is that it will be full on war for Trump to implement his plans and “our side” will be fighting him too. I look forward to that fight!

I agree with some of your points, but blaming Reagan’s budget deficits solely on the buildup of our military, is sort-of like blaming Bush’s deficits on the Iraq war.

The Iraq war counted for about half of Bush’s deficits. In Reagan’s day, it may have been even less of a percentage.

It wasn’t just beans the Democrats got. They spent like drunken sailors. Reagan doubled our intake. They ate that up and half again a much on top of it.

So two things here. Yes, you were quite right to point out what Reagan accomplished of the dead bodies of Congressmen. You are also partially right about the deficits. I still submit it went far beyond beans though.

I appreciate the response.

Yep.

The elite - and I include the likes of Rush Limbaugh - blithely speak of conservatism, when what they really mean is a blend of establishmentarianism and traditionalism.

Few of the pundits really understand conservatism.

You are dead on.

I think Rush deserves some criticisms at times. I’ve been listening for the last couple of weeks, and he has been anything but tepid regarding pushing Trump toward victory.

We can find all sorts of examples of folks sitting this one out, but Rush, knowing what Trump is all about, is still pushing as hard as he can right now.

Trump is not a globalist, and that doesn’t seem to put Rush off at all.

So I accept some push back on Rush from time to time. He’s still a good asset for us.

His explanations of what has been taking place with regard to all the releases of information have been very very good. I haven’t heard him say one thing that I wouldn’t want an uninformed person to hear, or and informed person either for that matter.

I agree. And they do it over and over again.

They were responsible for the 2008 meltdown. My only beef is, we let them wiggle out of it.

Bush had plenty of time to goad Congress into avoiding that meltdown. He didn’t. They did nothing. Our side took the hit. And that is what I blame Bush for. He was inept to the point of seriously damaging our cause. We can in large part thank Bush for Obama. Bush left us in such a mess, nobody was going to trust our side for a while.

There was a lot of talk about Capitalism being the wrong form of system for us. That’s how bad he and the other Republicans damaged our cause. And of course, the media played him up as a Conservative, and he let them.

The whole family disgusts me these days.
