Wonder if his sales fell off after he said that.

“...the artist played the Russian game, in which rhythmic knife jabs are aimed between the splayed fingers of one’s hand...”

Sounds like she’s playing mumblypeg...
heh heh. Can I get a **cut** of her profits?
(sorry. Couldn’t resist.)

Jeremiah: I don’t think Jamestown is a fan of, nor is she defending, decadent, disgusting “art.”
The Picasso quote she posted is merely factual and revealing.read it again. Picasso is actually admitting that his own abstractions are meaningless crap, and he only does it for the cash! He’s ridiculing the phony-intellectuals who fall for it! He’s essentially calling them idiots!
Jamestown is suggesting Marina Abramovic is doing the same thing—laughing all the way to the bank!

Now if Marina Abramovic used her talent to revive “The Addams Family” cartoon series I think I might appreciate her more.

She looks a bit like an adult Wednesday Addams.

Now that would be funny!

Photographs on other FR threads show Podesta’s left hand with mutilated fingers. He’s been stabbing himself a la Abramovic by the look of it.

Her first performance involved repeatedly, stabbing herself in her hands.

In 1974, artist Marina Abramovic performed a work entitled "Rhythm O" in which "she permitted a roomful of spectators in a Naples gallery to abuse her at their will for six hours, using instruments of pain and pleasure that had been placed on a table for their convenience. By the third hour, her clothes had been cut from her body with razor blades, her skin slashed; a loaded gun held to her head finally caused a fight between her tormentors, bringing the proceeding to an unnerving halt."

Ritual Death Cults

The Sacrificial Aesthetic: Blood Rituals from Art to Murder

http://www.anthropoetics.ucla.edu/ap0502/blood.htm

excerpt:

In 1974, artist Marina Abramovic performed a work entitled “Rhythm O” in which “she permitted a roomful of spectators in a Naples gallery to abuse her at their will for six hours, using instruments of pain and pleasure that had been placed on a table for their convenience. By the third hour, her clothes had been cut from her body with razor blades, her skin slashed; a loaded gun held to her head finally caused a fight between her tormentors, bringing the proceeding to an unnerving halt.”(1)The same year artist Petr Stembera performed an action entitled “Narcissus #1” in which he stood gazing at a self portrait which was placed on an altar surrounded by lit candles. Blood was drawn from his body with a hypodermic needle; then Stembera proceeded to mix the blood with his own urine, hair, and nail clippings, finally drinking the mixture in front of his altar. These are just a few examples of the use of blood in performance art.

GMTA!

https://archive.fo/HhWH9

archive link to three pages - the comparison to the Jeffrey Dahmer pose is striking, so who would have an eight foot sculpture of a dead man suspended from their ceiling and call it art?
A necrophiliac...

Probably just got better. All the Picasso fans I’ve quoted it to have just said, “oh, he was manic depressive, and said all kinds of things...”

It’s strange, because he was so gifted, and his early stuff was fascinating. (MHO)

This stuff is going the same way sex has gone in all of the ‘arts’ - it’s becoming laughably banal. These are supposed to be grown-up people, for goodness sake. They’re like tittering kids playing games that they flatter themselves will shock.

Dilettants with too much time and money...looking for a cult as an umbrella for their perversions?
