Thanks to FReeper, libertarian27, posting this thread yesterday...
Sheriff David Clarke and John Voight Rally for Trump NV (Live feed)
...I was reminded that when I briefly turned on 710 KNUS the other day, I had heard a commercial that Larry Elder, Jon Voight, and Sheriff David Clarke were supposed to be doing an event here in Denver somewhere and sometime soon. I had totally forgotten that was going on, and didnt even know the date for it. It turns out the events in Reno, NV and Aurora, CO were both yesterday!
I quickly did all my afternoon chauffeuring...picking up my daughter from school, oldest son to his after school job, and daughter to dance lessons. Then I got home, got online, and got tickets for the event. I rounded up my #2 son and my mom and off we went.
The event was at the new Hyatt Regency just across from the big University of Colorado Hospital complex...this used to be Fitzsimons Army Medical Center for anyone familiar with the area. And the hotel is only two miles from my home so it made actually getting there so much easier yesterday. And as a side note, the hotel is also directly across from the HUGELY overrun, billion+++ dollars VA Hospital project (Investigators find gross mismanagement tripled cost of Aurora VA Hospital, September 21, 2016) that has been going on for YEARS.
Anyway, the event had a sizable crowd. Im really bad at estimating crowd numbers, but Im thinking 2,000 give or take. Dont quote me on that.
First up were the local people...politicians like Congressman Ken Buck. And Casper Stockham, who is running against entrenched leftist Congress critter Diana Degette. Degette was passed the baton years ago by the very annoying Democrat congresswoman Patsy Schroeder if any of you care to remember that person from years ago.
Then some of the local talk show hosts and personalities got on stage from 710...including long-time Denver radio man, Steve Kelley...
...and another institution of Denver radio and good buddy to Tom Tancredo, Peter Boyles...
National talk show host, Larry Elder, was up next. He talked about his dad and how destructive Democrats have been to the black community.
National talk show host, Dennis Prager, did a live feed and spoke about the destruction of Americanism.
Jon Voights jet was late getting in, but he finally got there all the way from Reno! Boyles introduced him and first got him going off on tangents about his movies including Midnight Cowboy, Deliverance, and Anaconda. Voight was hilarious. But he was also serious when he spoke about the danger our country is in from the left.
Jon Voight (below) talking about the writer of Deliverance, James Dickey. I laughed so much at the voices he could do and the personalities he could take on. I dont know if the people keeping things flowing were happy about the longish tangents, but I was more than happy to hear some comic relief!
Last up, was the great Sheriff David Clarke. Sheriff Clarke isnt known for his comic relief, thats for sure, but he spoke totally off the top of his head, and he spoke passionately and urgently. He spoke of the seriousness of what we are up against, and how we have the right and duty to fight against it. He said he doesnt want people to get discouraged even though he admits that even he sometimes has moments of it, but he urged people to encourage the fence straddlers to get out there and do the right thing. He has NO patience for the #NeverTrumpers.
He said his own dad made a comment that he wasnt going to vote for anyone, but Sheriff Clarke STRONGLY encouraged his dad to reconsider, and his dad did! He said his dad is not exactly a pushover being an Airborne Ranger out of the Korean War, but he voted for president. He voted for Trump.
I think we all have one person that we can remind to vote, and remind them of the seriousness of what this election means. I dont know much about Sheriff Clarke other than the snippets of video I have seen of him on FR and other outlets, but I respected him even before I saw him live. After seeing him in person, it has made me respect him even more. When the poo-poo hits the fan, hes one you want on your side. And hes loyal as heck.
And lastly, my mom and I hung around after the event. Sheriff Clarke and Jon Voight and a few other people went into a side room with some of the Aurora LEOs that were there policing the event. Sheriff Clarke, and presumably Jon Voight, wanted to speak to them personally. They spent quite a bit of time in there. When they did come out, I was too nervous to approach Sheriff Clarke, but with Jon Voight, I ignored my nervousness, spoke up, and I got a picture of him and my mom.
My mom is from England, and when she was a young girl/teen in the 1940s and 50s, she thought all of the United States was Hollywood. She thought there was a star on every corner. Well, she got over here in 1959 as a young woman and mother, so it has taken her nearly 60 years, but she finally got to meet her first celebrity! And she has been and is a fan of Mr. Voights so he was a GREAT first.
Jon Voight and my mom
Thanks to the Great America PAC and 710 KNUS for sponsoring the event. It was a lot of fun.
When I’m perusing FR on my phone at these things, I always wonder if there are FReepers around me that will notice. ;)
Trumpleton is supposed to be coming again this weekend to CO.
If I had remembered this event was happening, and had thought to look up the date, I could have made an announcement to CO Freepers.
I hope and pray for this.
Great report! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks much, kristinn. :)
Thanks for link.
Yes, I know exactly who she is...a b*tch. She was responsible for taking all the fun out of Navy Aviators earning their wings when they used to "run the gauntlet" and/or having their "wings" punched on their chests.
The then new wittle women aviator graduates didn't like having their so special bottoms smacked. Many good commissioned Sailors lost their careers over Patsy's whining to Congress and DOD during the so-called "Tailhook Scandal". We've gone downhill since and that [!]unt started it all.
I was an Aviation Boatswains Mate on the flight deck in the 70's and have watched my Navy deteriorate from her leading feminist crap. That said, there are many good female Sailors in today's Navy. Although, still believe women should not be on subs nor allowed into SpecOps.
Heard 2 women passed Army Ranger school. Guess that says something about Ranger training nowadays. Would love to see some female sailors approved for BUD/S training. Har! They'd "ring out" before the week ends.
Ever wonder why there are NO Search and Rescue (SAR) females in any services? Yeah, they may FLY the Black Hawks (a basement dweller with video skills can fly them), but they can't qualify to jump into the suck. I want my Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines back. I never got why it goes in that order.
