Except for the whole *concept* of using private emails to avoid FOIA requests, or (as every government bill ends up saying) "...and for other purposes."
Or do you really think all of these top-level people suddenly, simultaneously, and *independently*, all got the bright idea to start exchanging private emails and send the addresses to Podesta?
You realize that, at the time this email was sent, Podesta likely didn’t have an official email - because he wasn’t a gov’t employee. Gates was (apparently) applying for a job he wound up getting - you don’t usually do that from your work email. If Gates was trying to get anything around FOIA it was the awkwardness of applying for a job in the next (Obama) administration when he was still working for Bush. Although we can judge that - I’m not sure how it would count as an official action.
