is a natural evolution from Abramovic’s extensive use of crystals as an interactive element in her sculptures and installations. In her work, the crystal elements range from large shoeas to quartz crystals embedded in the back of chairs. Abramovic explores the use of the mineral through a diverse range of scale, intimate and domestic. In Spirit Cooking, Abramovic places several amethyst crystals in a clea crystal jug filled with water. An accompanying hand-written and framed recipe, each individually drawn, instructs the user to soak the crystals in the water, releasing the beneficial qualities of the amathyst. Some of the stone’s transformational properties are: Purification and regeneration on all levels on consciousness. It is excellent for creativity, self esteem and sobriety. It possesses calming and strong protective qualities. And finally it will relieve depression.
