Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has officially joined the Donald Trump campaign and has already hit the trail with Gov. Mike Pence in Iowa and Michigan.
After a heated primary season for the Republican Party, Trump and Cruz came out of the Republican National Convention with a less-than-friendly relationship.
"Sen. Cruz will join Gov. Pence in Iowa and Michigan today," Pence's press secretary Marc Lotter told USA TODAY. "Having Sen Cruz join the governor today underscores what he has been saying for the past few weeks and we are seeing happen across the country - it is time for Republicans to come home."
Exactly.
He, Levin and other anti Trump eGOPs can see they need to join Trump's march to the White House so they will have some credibility when Trump is declared President.
Better late then never, but these Johnny-come-lately types need to be watched closely.
Very interesting. Hmmm.
Trump is very smart.
It wouldn’t benefit him at all to refuse Ted’s support, even at this late date.
He will be gracious to Mr. Cruz
+1 my friend, succinct
Well he is the only person in the world that hasn't.
You know his heart Mr. Freepers R Dumb?
That lays it out quite well.
Good work.
Thanks for drawing my attention to that whole scenario of McConnell declining to go there— to prop Cruz up.

Mrs. McCaskill (for herself, Mr. Leahy, Mr. Obama, Mr. Coburn, Mrs. Clinton, and Mr. Webb) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary
Because Cruz is intelligent enough to know that by, “Natural Born Citizen, the Framers didn’t mean, “Born on foreign soil to a non-cititzen/foreign father.”
“Natural Born Citizen” (left off my close quotes.)
A reasonable response. I will give you the only pat on the back you’re gonna get here. The long knives are too much for some to give up even for a time, even when everything is at stake.
Human nature stinks. Very few people really care about truth. God help us all!
On what concerns McCain is that both his parents were American Citizen and the place he was born was under American jurisdiction, which made it American ground. The same as the hospital my son and my daughter were born. As it was for thousands of children born to American soldiers who were stationed in the area.
You are ignoring that some of John Jay's children were born in France or Spain when he was Ambassador there and all children born to Ambassadors are citizens of the countries they represent, not the country they were born in.
Ted Cruz went to Iowa, huh?
Thanks.
Interesting, indeed.
Cruz announced in September that he would vote for Trump. Start with that.
Trump welcomed the announcement saying he looked forward to working with Cruz for many years. The reason Trump said this was because he needs Cruz's supporters to vote for him in this close election.
But . . . if you reject Trump's posture and want to inject confusion and animosity into the Trump campaign four days before the election, that's your right. I'm not going to criticize you.
.
I mean WRT this election cycle. I haven’t been witness to the rest of his life.
He has not misled anyone in any way in this election.
.
.
It appears that you have figured the attack team out.
.
I agree, Cruz should just go away. We don’t need him to join the campaign 5 days out and maybe get a few #neverTrumps to change their mind.
And to those who say “why look a gift horse in the mouth”, I ask “how do you know it won’t backfire?”’
For all we know, the effect of seeing Cruz campaigning for Trump could just as easily turn off independents and democrat crossovers who are normally unwilling to vote for a Republican, but they like Trump because he’s different.
Even people who think Cruz is the ultimate constitutional conservative, a maverick who stands alone against RINOs, have to admit he doesn’t come off as an outsider, a non politician, like Trump.
If Cruz had been nominated, he would have none of the independents or crossover support and we would not be within reach of victory as we now are.
So even if I could stand Cruz’s face or his voice, or thought he deserved the honor of sharing the stage with Trump after months of selfish behavior, I would strongly advise against featuring him on the campaign trail.
I think he’s a giant turn-off to the millions of independents and democrat crossovers we need to elect Trump.
Rightly or wrongly, they’ll take one look at Cruz and remember why they’ll never vote for a Repubican.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
I have been amazed at the knowledge, intelligence and situational awareness of my fellow Freepers. I’m proud to be one and consider Free Republic to be a magnificent conservative resource. Probably the greatest in the country.
But this Cruz/Trump vile animosity goes beyond the pale. It’s like re-waging the Civil War, Hatfield vs. McCoy, Shiites and Sunnis going for each other’s jugulars. Once it starts, it’s like a wildfire, out of control. “You” lose control and are seized with hate. You really lose it.
Trump is far from perfect, no need to review imperfections. But he is our existing champion and hero — maybe our last chance to save the country.
Cruz is far from perfect, no need to review imperfections. But he, of all Senators and House members, has stood — alone — against the establishment, the establishment that is close to ending our constitutional republic.
Unquestionably, Cruz as a Senator, will do so again. Again, when RINOS and conventional republicans are sitting on their hands, as they surely will. He has a track record that is undeniable.
I am ashamed of you Freeper Shiites and Sunnis, Hamas and Fatah. Wake up.
Trump and Cruz are anti-establishment. This election is about establishment versus anti-establishment. The death or survival of our Constitution.
Get it together! Save this country!
Let’s make America great again.
