Clinton: Hackers Targeted State Dept. ‘Every Hour of Every Day’
Washington Free Beacon ^

Posted on 11/03/2016 7:47:11 AM PDT by bryan999

Hillary Clinton privately told a major Wall Street bank that her State Department was subject to cyber-attacks “every hour of every day,” and that those attacks targeted employees’ personal email accounts, hacked documents reveal.

Clinton said she was “very worried” about the state of the federal government’s cyber-security efforts after witnessing how vulnerable State Department systems, including email accounts, were to malicious hackers, during remarks to employees of Deutsche Bank AG.

“We were attacked every hour of every day and not only through the State Department system, but also through individual, personal accounts, just really fishing for anything they could get,” Clinton said.

It’s her “hubris”- excessive pride that leads one to do foolish things and usually ends with a spectacular downfall. The Clintons have been above the law for so long it never even dawned on them that some peon of a hacker and a weirdo holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy could cause them any problems at all, or at least any problems that their friends in government and the media wouldn’t fix for them.

Meh, to be fair, most major corporations are “under attack.” Hell, if you have the proper monitoring setup, you’ll see hundreds of port scans and attempts to access against your home networks on a daily basis. This is much ado about nothing except that Hillary is trying to justify her use of a private server.

In the late 90's HRC spent tens of millions of taxpayer money on a Whitehouse database "upgrade" which was really their records theft.

HRC knows all about computer systems and their security risks and benefits. HRC has never had to experience a security risk regarding her conduct she could not have made go away. No reason she would?

What amazes me most about this is that the Clintons weren’t smart enough to plant false and misleading emails into their systems

Hubris.
They never think they are going to get caught. And even if they do they believe the system is rigged in their favor. Which it is but not entirely.
They know the Media will go to great length to cover for them but even then there will always be the alternate news sources.
There is always an Achilles heel.
chink in the armor.

Knowing that there were cyber attacks every hour, everyday, she continued to maintain her private server, assuming that the hackers would not dare try to hack the SOS.

IF THAT IS NOT INTENT THEN, I AM A FREIGHT CAR FULL OF SNICKERS!

Um, Granny Pickles? GIVING foreign entities the codes to get INTO the system after their checks to you had CLEARED is NOT really, ‘hacking.’

*SPIT*

“Hillary Clinton privately told a major Wall Street bank that her State Department was subject to cyber-attacks “every hour of every day,” and that those attacks targeted employees’ personal email accounts, hacked documents reveal.”

Yet knowing this she, the Secretary of State, had a private server.

Boys and girls, the word for today is, “TREASON.”

Yes, they did. And they have been doing this since 1995.

Which not only makes your idea of placing your email account on an unsecure server not just quintuply-stupid, but willfully so.

You could not have been just a run of the mill blithering moron to have done this, you must have done this for a reason that so blinded you to the obvious dangers, the dangers you were briefed on an a regular basis, that you signed off on as having attended, and knew were there for a reason. The dangers to other peoples’ lives doing your multimillion dollar influence peddling deals. If a consular staff gets killed, hey, what difference does it make. If a dozen or more carefully bred CIA operatives are outed, tortured, imprisoned, or killed, what difference does it make? You got yours, Hillary.

It was not just the generic idea of passing classified information to our enemies. It was for the specific purpose of profiting from same, with the most despicable disregard for the consequences of your actions. Even to the point of other people getting killed.

You should hang. It’s not even up for discussion.

You know who they remind me of? Kids whose parents are cops. They often tend to not only act out, but do stuff that is plain reckless and stupid, that even other delinquents would avoid doing. Why? Because their parents have always gotten them out of trouble, so they lost their fear of consequences.

The Clintons have no fear of consequences either, though they might be starting to develop one :)

I’ve noticed that. She’s something on the order of a low IQ crook, or just so damn arrogant that she thinks we are all stupid.

Those two options are NOT mutually exclusive!!!

It might be “much ado about nothing” if someone hacks our computers but this case is about foreign agents hacking the SOS’s server. This is a criminal act by both the hacker and the server owner. I'm sure you see that, or, don't you?

It is not “reckless” or “careless” it was intentional. How the FBI missed that should be considered another criminal act by Director Comey.

I’m not blind to the risks, but I can tell you that these are “hacks.” Automated port scans and probing is not uncommon, even in government. Hell, government IT is less strict than private industry, in my experience. If you have a series of ports open for web sites such as 80 and 443, those ports are constantly being probed to find a way into a system. There’s little that can be done to prevent that, because firewalls are all-or-none propositions.

Hillary was talking about the State department being attacked in the same way she described her “sniper fire” situation. It’s all bravado. She’s saying this to justify standing up a personal email server which was abysmally configured compared to what government IT agents can/would do. It’s no surprise her private systems were legitimately hacked.

It would take months to find the code insertions.

Not if you had secured copies of the latest total system software every time it is modified.

In addition, I remember clearly that even in the DOS era, there was always available at least one utility which compared two files bit for bit, to verify exact copies, with no modifications of any sort.
