James Comey - As seen through the Persuasion Filter
Scott Adam's Blog ^ | October 30, 2016 | Scott Adams

If you’re following the news, you know FBI Director James Comey announced that the FBI found a bunch of emails on Anthony Weiner’s laptop.

Wait…hold on…the Gods of Humor demand that I pause here to insert a few Weiner jokes before I get to my point about Comey.

...

I’m hearing several interpretations for these two observations:

1. Comey seemed pro-Clinton when he dropped the initial email case.

2. Comey seems anti-Clinton this week because he announced a new round of investigations right before the election.

Interesting take by Scott Adams on the FBI investigation. If his accuracy on this is even close to his usual standards, and given that we are talking about 650,000+ emails, we're going to need a lot more popcorn.

What Adams does not anticipate in his analysis is the possibility that Comey is getting the squeeze from two or more directions, and is responding based on who has the upper-hand.

It is the whole dang gone email DB from the secret sever. 650,000 emails is everybody’s stuff not just Huma. Too many, order of magnitude beyond one person. More like 5-10 people. Let that number sink in for a minute and how many emails HRC handed over and deleted and how many Podesta emails Wikileaks has and will release. Lot less than 650,000

Yes. 650,000 emails is likely enough to bring down the whole Clinton crime machine, maybe most of the Democrat party and a third of the Republicans.

It is ammunition for Trump to use in draining the Swamp.

Scott Adams is smart, and I do not see this as his view of reality. He is exercising his persuasive power to change minds and votes fot Trump.

That is what this article does. Do you notice that Hillary is dirty in all of the article?

He also ignores the many connections that Comey has to the Clintons including his brother on the board for the Clinton slush fund, and many others. Having said that, Adams version is plausible.

Tortured logic on this one.

Straightforward explanation is that, having read the cards on Trump winning the race, Comey is trying to keep himself out of jail.

Comey’s “protect Clinton” gambit lost, and he’s salvaging what he can of his position.

Clinton/Epstien sex slave paradise island?

650k emails will have some stuff likely on both Clintons, Huma, 0bama, Sor0s, Chelsea, Weiner, others.

I wonder if some FBI “true patriot truth seekers” will leak a few prior to the election just to ensure she isn’t elected and to ensure Comey/FBI isn’t blamed for her loss.

I’ve always had a difficult time swallowing the “Comey is a traitor” opinion. It didn’t make any sense considering how he laid out in July all of the crimes that were committed.

Scott Adams does a really good job here explaining what I believe to be closest to the truth.

The tarmac meeting..........a deal was made that Hillary would withdraw from the race at an appropriate time, due to health issues, in return they would not prosecute, knowing her failing health would make her sympathetic.

Waiting, waiting, waiting........the Clinton’s reneged on the deal and THIS is payback.

He’s missing alternate explanations of behavior.

Comey still wants a good career and suppressing info can taint his reputation. especially if Trump wins. Better to put it out now than lose his job and be disgraced.

The simplest explanation is the Huma was using this laptop to send all emails forwarded to the laptop to the Muslim Brotherhood.

He’s also discounted the power of EGO. Comey wants the new FBI building named the James Comey FBI Building. He is sucking up to Congress.

There's another possibility.

A Freeper posted a summary of a conversation he had with a staffer in Martha Roby's (R-AL, I think) office.

According to this staffer, Comey had no choice -- or he would have been impeached by Congress.

Some of you may remember Comey being grilled by Chaffetz (I think) about whether the discovery of new emails (i.e. the 33,000 deleted ones) would be grounds for reopening the investigation. Comey agreed.

But there's apparently an additional wrinkle that wasn't made public: The committee instructed Comey in writing that he was to notify them if more emails were found, and explain why or why not he was reopening the investigation.

Now, you can make the case that the FBI director doesn't take instructions from Congress, and you'd be right. But, if he sat on this until after the election and then told Congress, Comey knows that Republicans would have moved to impeach him -- protocol be damned.

Despite all of this, I think Comey will resign in January, no matter who wins the election. Neither Trump or Clinton will have any confidence in him. But, this way he gets to take the honorable way out, rather than being impeached.

Comey is getting the squeeze . . .

. . . from several directions. I think it's not entirely a coincidence that this came out after reports that 'thousands' of FBI agents are resigning because of the damage to the integrity of the FBI done by Comey.

So, on the first round he does his (agency's) investigative job and assembles evidence. Then, because of illegal but strong pressure from his boss (Lynch) he makes the unprecedented and irrelevant (to his job) comment about what a prosecutor would do - and recommends no further action. That's not his call to make. Determining what prosecutors do is the Attorney General's decision. He was just reporting it per orders. Self-serving, but weak. (Not the noble patriot Scott Adams suggests.)

Then, his agents start sending in resignation papers, and he has an excuse to send a letter to Congress saying that there is new evidence (which is, in fact, his job). Now he has the best of all worlds. His agents will retract their resignations, and he wins no matter who wins the elections. The letter (announcement) is too close to the election to resolve, so the significance to him is all about what happens after the election. If Hillary wins, the 'new investigation' dies. If Trump wins, the new data becomes "proof" that Comey has been honorable all along. In either case, he 'serves' the interests of the new President. Actually self-serving, but smart.

Which 'movie' is most consistent with the fact conspicuously absent from Scott Adams' analysis? The fact Comey changed from investigating and assembling evidence to assessing what prosecutors would do and making a 'recommendation' on that basis? If all Comey had done the first time is present the evidence and walk away, leaving Lynch to determine if prosecutors would act on it, then I could accept Adams's analysis as at least plausible. But Comey didn't do that, so we need a different 'movie.'

I agree with you. His “movie” has the fewest plot holes of any scripts I’ve read on this.

Agree...the actual treason is probably revealed in Huma's "sent" folder. If so, it is likely she will be put in jail for life. Maybe Hillary and Bubba will end up residing in the same cell block.
