Well, you didn’t miss much with the cancellation of L’Italiana. I saw it last week. The singing is good, but the production is very silly. Like for a 12-year-old mentality. Couldn’t stand it.
I think this is still the production from the 70 &, 80s when Marilyn Horne sang. I saw it a couple of times back then and liked it. Somehow I missed it when Juan Diego Florez sang several years ago. I was looking forward to hearing Levine conduct. The '81 broadcast of Italiana, which he conducted, is one my favorites.
