Attorney General told FBI director James Comey NOT to send letter to Congress about bureau reopening the investigation into Hillary's emails because it could influence the election outcome
Attorney General Loretta Lynch advised Comey against sending a letter to Congress about the FBI's reopened investigation into Clinton's emails She argued to Comey that he should follow the Justice Department's practice of not taking actions that could influence the election Attorney General Loretta Lynch advised and objected against FBI Director James Comey's move to send a letter to Congress to inform them about the reopening of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server.
Lynch argued to Comey that he should follow the Justice Department's practice of not taking actions that could influence the outcome of a presidential election, The New Yorker reported on Saturday.
Comey broke from Lynch, who objected to the move along with the Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, and independently sent the letter to Congress on Friday, dropping the bombshell about the restarted investigation based on newly discovered emails, rocking Clinton's campaign.
Comey's supporters argue that he had to break away from Lynch and act independently on the issue due to her compromising herself when she had an impromptu visit with former president Bill Clinton late into the investigation earlier this year. Comey broke away and sent a memo to bureau staffers explaining his decision to notify Congress He wrote that the FBI would not 'ordinarily' inform Congress about its ongoing investigations But said he noted he felt an 'obligation to' given that he testified repeatedly in recent months that bureau's investigation was completed On Friday, he sent a letter to eight Republican lawmakers regarding the reopened investigation - rocking Clinton's campaign

Four years ago, former Attorney General Eric Holder formalized a policy not comment publicly about politically sensitive investigations within 60 days of an election in a memo to all Justice Department employees.
He didn’t comment publicly. He sent notice of a change in the status of the investigation to elected officials in Congress, as he had promised. They then released his notice to the public.
Was this before, or after the leading “law enforcer” in America took the 5th??
Caspar Weinberger was indicted just days before the 1992 election, and the liberals were OK with that. So the liberals clearly don’t care when legal issues are happening relating to the time of an election.
Huma was likely sending classified info to foreign nationals.
I imagine there is also a “policy” somewhere about not pilfering divorce records that have been sealed by a court and releasing them to the public within 60 days of an election, and we all know how that was respected by Lynch’s boss.
We can only assume Lynch’s motives here are political, especially after the tarmac meeting and her pleading the 5th.
It makes the distraction all the more compelling, and IMO, that's what this story is designed to be, nothing more than a distraction. It has "Good cop / Bad cop" written all over.
So what about his July press conference? Didn't that influence the election? These people are too much. :-)
Thanks for that. Good memory.
Of course the Democrats will say that was "The People's Right to Know."
Comey told Congress and the American people that the investigation into Hillary Clinton had been completed.
In fact, the investigation is now ongoing.
Lynch wanted to mislead Congress and the American people in order to help Hillary win the election by not telling the investigation is not in fact completed.
Because of her own conflict of interest with the Clintons, in that 1) Bill Clinton appointed her US Attorney, 2) Hillary Clinton publicly offered to keep her as AG in a Hillary Administration, 3) she is an appointed Obama cabinet member purporting to investigate another appointed Obama cabinet member and 4) improper airplane meeting with the spouse of the investigation, Lynch should have used the DOJ regulations under which an independent special counsel is appointed in the event of conflicts of interest.
Her corruption in this case such as refusing to appoint a grand jury or to apply for search warrants to assist the FBI and numerous other decisions such as improperly allowing Cheryl Mills, another target of the investigation, to act as attorney for Hillary, calls for impeachment and removal from office.
Lynch can’t hold up the levee forever.
Obama can fire Comey at any time.
Comey broke “policy” he didn’t break the law.
(I think Comey already has broken the law, with the past farce investigation, but that’s a separate issue.)
Obama can fire Comey with a phone call. Will that help Hillary? NOPE, adds more drama.
She’s a moron, or a criminal, or both. Did the AG consider what it would have meant if the new evidence came out AFTER the election? The charge of illegitimacy would rock the whole system of government.
She needs to be indicted and impeached herself.
I think the last Attorney General to take the fifth was John Mitchell.
Anyone know if Huma has fled the country or has hillary already had her “eliminated”?

I think there is a little bit more to it. This all dropped just a couple days after all the sleaze about the #2 guy at the FBI came out.
If she really opposed Comey telling Congress, that’s outrageous.
Huma knows the Clintons well. She surely has a dead-man’s switch to protect herself.
