A Des Moines woman was arrested Thursday in Polk County on election misconduct charges.
Iowa woman faces criminal charges in voter fraud case Terri Rote, 55, is charged with first-degree election misconduct.
Authorities said Rote turned in two absentee ballots at a Polk County election satellite office.
"She tried to vote twice. Thats a class D felony by Iowa law, Des Moines police Sgt. Paul Parizek said. It was picked up pretty quick. These things arent going to slip by the election office and they brought it to our attention. The elements of the crime were there so she was charged."

Was she voting Republican? uh...that would be a big fat NO!
These cases need a permanent voting ban and mandatory, long jail sentences as well as massive monetary fines. I am sick and tired of Rats stealing elections - the penalties for this crime should be as immense as the damage it does to our Republic.
It’s a felony. She won’t be voting twice again, she won’t even be voting once again. Had she not been caught this time, she may have voted 20 times.
I think it's possible that this woman is really a dem in repub clothing.
Don’t care who is doing the fraud, in a constitutional representative government, the validity and honesty of the vote is paramount to having a government serve with the consent of the people. Any and all voter fraud puts that consent in the realm of INVALID.
No more slaps on the wrists, pleading down, etc. The penalties need to be changed to very very high. Long sentences and huge fines.
“Rote is registered as a Republican.”
Interesting wording.
Notice they do not say, “Rote is registered Republican.”
They say, “Rote is registered as a Republican.”
I would be like their saying “Rote is dressed as a zombie for Halloween.”
That would not mean that she is an actual zombie.
From the Des Moines Register: “Rote, a registered Republican, reportedly cast an early voting ballot at the Polk County Election Office, 120 Second Ave., and another ballot at a county satellite voting location in Des Moines, according to a Des Moines police.”
A drop in the bucket.
