Shortened title.

Full title: Clinton State Department IT Official John Bentel Takes Fifth Amendment During Judicial Watch Deposition

Judicial Watch announced today that another witness in the Clinton email matter asserted his Fifth Amendment rights during a Judicial Watch deposition today.   The deposition of John Bentel, the State Department’s former Director of Information Resource Management of the Executive Secretariat (“S/ES-IRM”), was ordered by U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan.  S/ES-IRM is the office that handles information technology for the Office of the Secretary.  Mr. Bentel answered over 90 questions with “On advice from my legal counsel, I decline to answer the question and I invoke my Fifth Amendment rights.”

Mr. Bentel, on advice of Obama Justice Department and personal counsel, refused to answer any questions about whether Hillary Clinton was paying his legal fees, offered him employment, or other financial incentives.  There were three government attorneys and two personal attorneys present for the deposition.

On August 19, 2016, Judge Sullivan granted Judicial Watch’s request to depose Bentel, citing significant discrepancies in Bentel previous statements on the Clinton non-state.gov email system:

Though it is very brief, this is a must read article.

From the article:

"The Court is persuaded that Mr. Bentel should be deposed because the record in this case appears to contradict his sworn testimony before the [House Select] Benghazi Committee. . . . Specifically, Mr. Bentel testified that he was not aware that Secretary Clinton’s email account was housed on a private server until media reports in 2015. . . . However, several emails indicate Mr. Bentel knew about the private server as early as 2009."

The State Department’s former Director of Information Resource Management of the Executive Secretariat has been shown to have committed perjury as well as several other crimes regarding the Hillary Clinton's illegal server and illegal emails.

He has invoked the 5th Amendment and has refused to testify about any of his activities.

John Bentel needs to be prosecuted for these crimes.

Is there any recourse when someone takes the Fifth? Doesn’t taking the fifth mean that person cannot be prosecuted - or does it?

Apparently, only on very specific defined charges.

They do things like this as a kind of last resort. When you lie in a court deposition that is perjury, when you lie to the FBI that is a crime also.

When you take the fifth, it’s up to the interrogation to develop enough pull to get DOJ to indict or to empanel a Grand Jury. The least likely path of ending up in jail.

With so many of Clinton’s cohorts taking the 5th in testimonies, it shows plenty of smoke in front of the fire...

The 5th Amendment prevents the accused from being forced to testify.
The accused can still be found guilty...

MSNBC, CNN, HLN, and other Clinton tail wagging lackeys are absolutely foaming at the mouth as they become further unhinged this morning. They are out of their minds in apoplectic fits. This is great to watch.

Something rotten to the core is in Huma’s Emails. Hillary’s best friend and confidant, Huma. Wanna bet there are damning emails to and from Hillary in that phone???

No, it’s your individual Constitutional right not to be compelled to testify against yourself and there’s no penalty for doing so, other than the inference one might draw that you’re hiding something.

What is getting under my skin, is every one of those who received immunity should have that immunity yanked immediately for ANY non-cooperation or evidence of false testimony!

As rotten and evil as Michael Corleone was, even he didn’t take the 5th. :/

Or, the person being questioned can be given immunity regarding the answer to those questions asked and COMPELLED by a judge to answer, or go to jail. There are different kinds of immunity and different protections....

the fifth mean that person cannot be prosecuted - or does it?

The FIFTH say HE doesn't have to testify against himself but in this case, who cares.

The scumbag has already buried himself earlier when he said he had no knowledge of the Clinton pay for play email server.

Evidence shows he lied. PUT HIM IN JAIL FOR A LONG, LONG TIME.

Hussein Obama said the same thing, he didn't know about the email server until news reports. We know the lying scumbag Obama sent emails to Ms. Benghazi. We can put Hellery, Hussein and this email scumbag in adjoining cells.

No, it means they decline to assist in said prosecution.

John Bentel needs to be prosecuted for these crimes.

All replay from this spring: The chairmen of both committees, Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), are now threatening to consider other ways to compel him to discuss the matter.

‘John Bentel needs to be prosecuted for these crimes.’

So do Hillary and Obama.

“Doesn’t taking the fifth mean that person cannot be prosecuted - or does it?”

No it does not.

The Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution protects a person from being compelled to be a witness against himself in a criminal case. "Taking the Fifth" is a colloquial term for invoking the privilege that allows a witness to decline to answer questions where the answers might incriminate him.

All it means is that if the witness answered the question truthfully, the answer would incriminate the witness. In other words, the answer would provide evidence that the witness committed a crime.

A witness who "takes the fifth" can be prosecuted for anything he has done.

If hes previously lied and they know it (i assume just about everyone deposed and taking the fifth or claiming selective memory loss has lied)then this is a formality. If they have have contradictory statements they can say he lied and charge him.
I imagine forgetting like Hillary did avoids that perjury charge. All these emails are catching the baby rats who didn’t know what is in emails. The queen rat and her advisors know and are choosing to forget.

I would venture a guesshere and say that Hillary had other email accounts. These were probably used for her daily dealings with Huma and her top peeps. She has mentioned other systems before. Maybe they found same. We know Chelsea had an alias account.

It really won’t matter what information is on the emails/texts. Hillary has already sworn to her actions. The finding of other account(s) show premeditation and clear intent to deceive. They also show HRC to have lied under oath. Why do you think the IT guy(Bentel) and AG(Lynch) took the 5th recently?

Whatever is there, if there is more classified material on the device(s), they were on a phone or computer jointly used by Huma and Weiner man. He does not have a security clearance. So, if it’s there, he had access to it due to Hillarys negligence in handling Secrets
