No reason for Comey to do anything, if he expected Her Crookedness to win.
But he senses she'll lose, and, competent rat that he his, he knows how to desert a sinking ship. Even better, how to make sure it sinks by blowing a big hole below the waterline before abandoning.
The Weiner evidence is just a convenient excuse for his change of course.
My point of view is that there is no reason for him to do anything if he expects her to lose, either. At least not now. Maybe he figures another coat of whitewash makes a prosepctive pardon more palatable.
His judgment is awful. See the July whitewash. That got him labeled as a taget of an independent investigation under a Trump administration. He might be planning to double down, with additional investigation uncovering nothing incrimimating either.
The big conclusion is that voters vote on that they think is true not always what is true. This is gift stop over analyzing it. Sometimes a banana is really just a banana. Hillary is on defense and wrapped in tar and feathers and will be until next week.
Or that the ruling scoundrels of the FBI plan to dump everything they have/know, hoping that Clinton still manages to get elected, and then on the way out the malignant Muslatto pardons her and the entire cast of this criminal regime.

If they believe Hillary's going to win, they sit tight. They thrived under one 'Rat regime. No reason to believe they can't thrive under another.
But if they believe Trump's going to win, they need to reposition themselves to survive the resulting house cleaning. Boosting Trump's margin by dropping a late October surprise is a great way to reposition.

I believe I agree with you here. I dint think Hillary is enough of an actress to look as distraught as she did in the photograph that was on front page drudge where she was looking down wearing a dark blue dress unless she knew that she is in real trouble and things are falling apart for her. This goes to the mental aspects, not physical health I believe.
