Don't bet on that. I think there will be more votes in this election from registered Democrats than registered Republicans. But that doesn't tell the story of the following two developments I see unfolding next month:

1. Unaffiliated/independent voters may surpass one or both parties nationally.

2. Trump is going to get a lot of votes from registered Democrats -- mainly working-class people of all races.

Anecdotal, I know, but there are Trump signs up around the corner from me in rural Tennessee where it is all Black housing. I was surprised to see his sign among all the Democrats. It makes me hopeful.
