“The characters may not have been gay, but the book was.”

LOL! Stay gold, man :-).

We were forced to read that drivel in 7th grade (or was it sixth ... I forget). I remember the school playing the movie shortly after we read it. I laughed at the scene where Ralph Macchio died and got hissed at by most of the girls.

I can’t believe part of my “puhblic edumacation” involved reading and writing about that horrible, predictable story! You figure I probably spent about 4 hours of my life reading that book and writing the crap they *suggested* we write.

There used to be a class where you’d read and write about all sorts of different events. It was called history ... of course, that’s been relegated to nothing more than a “several multiple choice + an easy, PC essay” level of class.

Disgusting.

My favorite class, right up through 7th grade, was History.
Then, in 8th grade, it became “Social Studies” and it was pure indoctrination. I was a pretty clueless kid, but I saw the indoctrination right away. I’ve pretty much hated government schools ever since. They aren’t there to educate you.
