When Trump recently attended a Republican Indian-American Charity Event (NJ?), he also made the point about what stellar performers Indians have been, among immigrant groups - highest educational achievement, and highest rate of entrepreneurship.
Both Hindus and Sikhs have been among the most successful immigrant groups in many countries around the world (as are Jews and Chinese).
One of the major reforms which were proposed in Trump’s immigration speech in Phoenix, was to move away from the current system, which emphasizes family relationships and deliberate quotas for poor and those from poor countries, toward a point based quality system (like most countries on Earth). Young, healthy, rich and highly skilled/educated immigrants would be prioritized - those who contribute the most to the economy.
As long as you don't count "Canadian" Sikhs murdering 329 people on board that flight out of Toronto.
Absolutely...immigration system should emphasize skills, education, ability to speak English and yes, amount of money the immigrant can bring with. That is exactly what New Zealand does, and has a much more successful immigration system.
