NORTH LITTLE ROCK,Ark.--The mother of an 18-year-old murder victim says she forgives the man accused of killing her daughter.
The shooting rattled a North Little Rock neighborhood earlier this week; many called it an act of domestic violence.
The mother of the victim says this is not the first time she has dealt with the murder of a loved one.
She says she is relying on family and her faith after seeing her brother, her husband and now her daughter murdered in the last few years.
Family pictures lined the table inside the home of an 18-year-old whose life was tragically taken away.
For mother, Yolanda Young, death is nothing new.
"My husband he had an associate's degree, he was murdered," she said. "My brother was murdered, Ron Everhard, in 94, so I've been in the healing process a long time."
She never thought she would see her daughter shot dead on the ground at a home in North Little Rock.
"This is my daughter, this is my first born," said Yolanda.

“No, her husband had an associates degree, so you see, it must be some mystical force behind it all”
Probably a real achievement in her circles.
But as someone who only has an A.A. himself, I’m not going to scoff.

It is not her place to forgive the violence done to her daughter. To the letter of the law, there is no crime done to the mother. Of course, that does not mean that she has not been made to suffer. By extent of your argument, as the daughter no longer suffers, there is no crime, only one against the mother.
Regardless, no matter who forgives whom, there is still a penalty to be exacted and a price to be paid by the law. To set this man at liberty because the mom says no foul is to make a mockery of the law.
Diversity
I’m guessing IQ in the low 70s
I’m stealing that line
I like that
It’s the non sequitur that got me; degrees & titles, especially these days, do not impress
bon sequitur !
SHTF plans: Don’t be related to Yolanda Young.
Forgive and fry him.
And the DOJ “social justice agenda” will feed him, cloth him, give him medical services, legal services, internet service, cable tv, recreation give him more than he would ever receive on the outside, I know because my friends who are correctional guards cannot fight back when assaulted, cannot raise their voices, remain calm and talk any altercation thru while being verbally assaulted as well. This is the Obama Clinton agenda. They are rewarding the savages that kill our family members
This woman is an idiot.
Legal Justice is not the same as personal /emotional forgiveness.
Of course the mother can chose to forgive or not. Definition of forgive: to stop the feelings of resentment for an offense.
The mother suffered from this offense. Just as we suffer from the death of a loved one by natural causes. Her suffering was caused by the murderer. She can chose to personally forgive the murderer or not.
I thought the comment about the degree was an odd thing to say also.
Precisely !
Fine. But it is not forgiveness if the mother gives it for she was not the one wronged. She perceives that she is wronged, but probably because she is very self centered. I cannot forgive someone for something they do to you.
“I thought the comment about the degree was an odd thing to say also.”
He was probably very proud of it. It was probably going to be a stepping-stone out of their situation, but you know how (hood)rats get when one of them tries to escape.
I say that not knowing anything about the circumstances of his death.
Correct. I think it’s just a personal forgiveness on an emotional realm rather than responsibility on a spiritual and even judicial level. But, definitely an interesting concept for discussion.
what a dumb looking ship.....
There's something about that statement that leads me to believe that the black community really doesn't care about black lives since there is so much violence and murder that occurs that they have become immune to its impact........
Sounds about accurate tho. Living just 20-30 minutes outside of a murder capital is like night and day. Worked with many people who live in the city that tell personal stories of similar deaths These folks are gunned down and from the way it sounds, their siblings were up to no good at one time or another. I’m not saying this is always the case. But, I’ve connected the dots. While these type of families need to move, they seem too connected by friends and large families that also live in these cities. Low or free rent, many social programs keep them rooted as well. The one that tries to better them self has a hard time breaking free, especially when immediate family is not on board to leave the associations behind.
I’d forgive him just before they flipped the switch.
Genuine justice allows for genuine forgiveness.
