There is another government concealed behind the one that is visible at either end of Pennsylvania Avenue, a hybrid entity of public and private institutions ruling the country according to consistent patterns in season and out, connected to, but only intermittently controlled by, the visible state whose leaders we choose. My analysis of this phenomenon is not an exposé of a secret, conspiratorial cabal; the state within a state is hiding mostly in plain sight, and its operators mainly act in the light of day. Nor can this other government be accurately termed an "establishment."
The Deep State does not consist of the entire government. It is a hybrid of national security and law enforcement agencies: the Department of Defense, the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, the Central Intelligence Agency and the Justice Department. I also include the Department of the Treasury because of its jurisdiction over financial flows, its enforcement of international sanctions and its organic symbiosis with Wall Street.
All these agencies are coordinated by the Executive Office of the President via the National Security Council. Certain key areas of the judiciary belong to the Deep State, such as the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, whose actions are mysterious even to most members of Congress. Also included are a handful of vital federal trial courts, such as the Eastern District of Virginia and the Southern District of Manhattan, where sensitive proceedings in national security cases are conducted. The final government component (and possibly last in precedence among the formal branches of government established by the Constitution) is a kind of rump Congress consisting of the congressional leadership and some (but not all) of the members of the defense and intelligence committees.

Definitely worth the read.....
No Matter Who Wins The Presidency, The Deep State Will Run Things
When crunch time has come, our deep state has managed largely to keep the ship afloat and chugging ahead. Theyll see us through either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.
Mike Lofgren, author of The Deep State: The Fall of the Constitution and the Rise of a Shadow Government. The key institutions are exactly what people would think they are, he recently explained. The military-industrial complex; the Pentagon and all their contractors (but also, now, our entire homeland security apparatus); the Department of Treasury; the Justice Department; certain courts, like the southern district of Manhattan, and the eastern district of Virginia; the FISA courts.

Now I just get pissed occasionally!
Thank you.. I listened to it and plan to again.
This article is preposterous. The author lives in a fantasy world where Republicans resist Obama.

“This article is preposterous. The author lives in a fantasy world where Republicans resist Obama.”
Sad to say, you are mostly correct. This is not about Democrat vs. Republican, or even Dark vs Light (although at a higher level it is), it is about Dark vs Shades of Gray!

Thank You for sharing this link with me. It is greatly appreciated.
Here is an excerpt from the article:
“It is not hard to understand why the CIA preferred Clinton over Trump. Clinton was critical of Obama for restraining the CIAs proxy war in Syria and was eager to expand that war, while Trump denounced it. Clinton clearly wanted a harder line than Obama took against the CIAs long-standing foes in Moscow, while Trump wanted improved relations and greater cooperation.
In general, Clinton defended and intended to extend the decadeslong international military order on which the CIA and Pentagons preeminence depends, while Trump through a still-uncertain mix of instability and extremist conviction posed a threat to it.”
The supreme religion of the U.S. Press Corps is reverence for power; The more Trump exhibits, the more submissive they will get.
Here is Greenwald getting the Tucker Carlson treatment.

“Here is Greenwald getting the Tucker Carlson treatment.”
Thank you for sharing the link. It was beyond excellent.
This is an example of tucker at his best. Glenn was very eloquent and backed up his statements with logical facts and analysis. Tucker did not confront him as he does the mindless libs, but asked excellent questions that brought a deeply thought out position based upon a knowledge of history and facts. It’s great to hear a conversation above a third grade level.
Please share any such links in the future and I thank you in advance for doing so.
This is the very definition of Fascism. We are in a very dangerous situation.
I agree we are in a dangerous situation. For many more reasons than most realize... True for the world, not just our country.
Definition of fascism per wiki”
Fascism is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism that came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe, influenced by national syndicalism. Fascism originated in Italy during World War I and spread to other European countries. Fascism opposes liberalism, Marxism and anarchism and is usually placed on the far-right within the traditional leftright spectrum.
Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete, and they regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties.
Such a state is led by a strong leadersuch as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist partyto forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society.
Fascism rejects assertions that violence is automatically negative in nature, and views political violence, war, and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation.[8][9][10][11] Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky through protectionist and interventionist economic policies.
