The offensive to liberate Mosul from ISIS control has begun, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said in a televised statement early Monday. "Our dearest people in Nineveh province, the victory bell has rung, and the operations to liberate Mosul have begun," he said. "I am announcing today the beginning of these heroic operations to liberate you from the brutality and terrorism of ISIS. God willing, we will meet soon on the ground of Mosul where we will all celebrate the liberation and your freedom."
The fight is expected to last weeks, if not months, and if the battles to wrest Falluja and Ramadi from ISIS' grip are indicators, Mosul will be a messy melee. The assault's buildup has been ongoing for some time. US-led coalition and Iraqi forces have hammered ISIS targets with airstrikes for more than a year. The Nineveh Liberation Operations Center, which was set up to coordinate the offensive, has brought in dozens of American and British advisers. A US artillery unit has provided cover for operations south of Mosul.

The kenyan will bribe ISIS to leave and give him an election eve “victory”. I’m sure he has the contacts and pallets of cash to do it.
Correction:
‘2nd Battle for Mosul begins’.
didn’t they allow thousands of isis soldiers to leave mosul untouched so they could go to syria to take out assad?
Meanwhile this puts Aleppo on the back burner, conveniently out of the limelight, for now.
Obama is trying to shore up his legacy with one last push to defeat the “JV team”.
They gave ISIS a nice huge warning that they were coming. I doubt there’s many of them left to kill but we will declare victory anyhow.
Wag the dog to elect Hillary.
They gave them good notice, nothing about this is a surprise.
Actually they brought in 6 buses to let the Isis woman and children leave..likely going to Raqqa....Additionally the military will leave open a road once they surround the city to leave.....the city has very narrow streets, they prefer knocking them off as they leave the city rather than destroy the city itself. Too many refugees if they do so.....600,000 residents still in the city....some favorable to Isis, others can’t leave because they remember the history of Mosul and won’t leave as refugees..
Are we providing air support?
Looks like soetoro’s ready to sacrifice a few of his fellow enemy islamists for political expediency.
so what does Barry wanna be a war hero no for Hilliary’s sake or what??
....”Obama is trying to shore up his legacy with one last push to defeat the JV team”...
Yes, I’ve been watching over the past week....air has been taking out and softening the ground for the push...some of the Generals and Majors believe the Isis leadership is leaving or has left....likely for Raqqa....but the fighters will remain til the end......
Obama is doing this also because the Wiki leaks are also affecting his legacy....not just Hillary’s and he has yet to see the full impact of that....
now*
Too bad the gutless chimp-in-chief didn’t have enough of a pair to authorize a second ‘Highway of Death’ and take the lot out!
How many Americans killed and wounded to capture it the first time?
Then HUSSEIN BARAKA and the DEMOCRATS gave it back to the ENEMY.
When will the battle to take DC start?
“Actually they brought in 6 buses to let the Isis woman and children leave.”
Probably the cadres will be evacuated beforehand, to be re-branded as “moderate” rebels in Syria, of infiltrated into the West.
There have been a lot more than 2 battles for Mosul. The city is 2500 years old.
How many times have we fought over Mosul? And our genius Senior officer corps has been announcing this battle for how long now....Weeks?
Morons. We are lead by morons. Everyone worth killing and every war criminal is long gone.
