IRENE BORDONI: “DON’T LOOK AT ME THAT WAY”This is the star of “Paris” singing her song from the musical with the backing of Irving Aaronson & His Commanders. It’s from 1928, and her French accent was very real. Note her operatic approach to singing, normal for an era when Broadway shows didn’t use hidden microphones for amplification. Once the song gets going, it’s pure Twenties dance band. You could imagine this on the soundtrack of “Boardwalk Empire.”
