In the election cycle dominated by Donald Trump, it should not be much of a shock that the first October Surprise came from "Access Hollywood." In a 2005 outtake, Trump told then-"Access" co-host Billy Bush how he could rudely grab women's genitals and get away with it because "when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything."
They say it was a recent discovery. No media October Surprise there. No, siree.
Smelling Trump's blood in the water, the Clinton-enabling press sprung into action. None of them seemed to reflect for 5 seconds about how Trump could be describing Bill Clinton's modus operandi. Trump talked as Clinton did. The press' moral outrage was as phony as Hillary Clinton's. "This is horrific," Clinton shamelessly tweeted. "We cannot allow this man to become president."
The women who were actually harassed by Bill Clinton were never offered any support from Hillary Clinton, or her feminist army in the press. In February of 1994, Paula Jones held a press conference to accuse Bill Clinton of exposing himself and requesting oral sex in a hotel room in Little Rock, Arkansas. Other than 16 seconds on ABC, the media decided that wasn't news...until Jones filed a lawsuit and the Clintons hired a lawyer three months later.
But the Jones case vanished from the press and played no significant role in the 1996 presidential campaign. There were 11 network stories during the entire election year. Half of them were perfunctory notices of legal claims, and the other half focused on the Republican National Committee making an ad mocking Bill Clinton for claiming that he couldn't be sued because he was on "active duty" as commander-in-chief. Once Clinton was safely re-elected, a few establishment media outlets decided that maybe there was something to this Jones thing.
The lawsuit eventually led to the deposition of former Clinton intern Monica Lewinsky, so the story became a huge, national nightmare -- in part because both Bill and Hillary Clinton claimed for months that Lewinsky was lying. When the story broke, Hillary Clinton even said on ABC that Lewinsky misunderstood that Bill Clinton is just "a happy, friendly, loving, kind, good person." He "reaches out to all kinds of people."
ABC enabled that. No laugh track. No skepticism. It was gullible to a fault.
The emergence of Lewinsky led to other women who said that Clinton assaulted them. In March of 1998, Ed Bradley interviewed Kathleen Willey on CBS "60 Minutes." Willey said the president fondled her breast and put her hand on his crotch during a 1993 Oval Office visit. Willey had been begging for a job. The Clinton team quickly put out letters Willey had written Clinton to erase the idea that she was assaulted, and the story vanished. A federal judge ruled in 2000 that the Clinton White House violated the Privacy Act with that disclosure. The Big Three TV networks gave that ruling 66 seconds combined.
This pattern was even repeated with Juanita Broaddrick, who declared in a "Dateline NBC" interview in 1999 that Clinton raped her in a Little Rock hotel room in 1978 ("You better get some ice for that," he told her after). On the evening newscasts, CBS aired one story, and ABC and NBC did nothing -- even though NBC secured the interview!
When Trump invited these women to the second presidential debate, guess what the networks did. They attacked Trump for going "personal."
So ask yourself this question: How many times since 1994 have TV interviewers asked Hillary Clinton what she did or didn't do to smear these women? Try and find one occasion.
As repugnant as it was, Trump's offense was words. The Clintons' offenses were actions.
The cynicism boggles the mind.
I couldn’t help but notice during Trump’s taped antics that what he said was that the women will ‘let’ you grab them. The ‘let’ being the key word.
Trump was saying the women would be willing partners because of his celebrity status.
Clinton never troubled himself over the matter of consent.
ALL of this is very true and apt in this situation.
The problem is, to MOST voters, they are not political wonks like us. They don’t spend hours visiting political sites. They are LOW INFORMATION voters.
They like their data is easily processed soundbites.
The Mainstream Media are VERY GOOD at doing this. Its their PROFESSION and they have the forums to do it.
Unfortunately they are ALL of the same political view as the left has successfully monopolized the media as they are monopolizing the schools and the churches.
Trump has a good chance of winning. His success up to this point, as a total political novice is RERMARKABLE. Especially when you consider the combination of forces against him and his views.
If a LEFTIST political novice like that f******g idiot Kanye West decided to run, they SWOON all over him, cover up his past sexual adventures and fly speck his opponent.
The conservatives need to unite and figure out a way to recover at least PART of the mainstream media.
Hopefully, Trump wins. If he does or doesn’t hopefully he starts a new political movement. He has the drive, the money and he can compete with CNN, NBC, etc.
And NEVER, NEVER, forget that bastard Paul Ryan. COLLABORATOR!!!
Maybe the headline should be revised to:
The Trump Tape Vs. Hillary the Assault Enabler vs Obonergate
Pic and Video top of Drudge...
This almost looks like an oblique reference to Clintbilly's shenanigans, come to think about it. This is about a hypothetical.
The beast and algore show up after the second debate in a sparsely attended school auditorium and really laid INTO 'em with the national security item .... ClImAtE ChAnGe !.!.!.!
Algore's last words loudly whispered to cankles are, "Happy with that?"
The first and obvious one is that virtually everyone expressing prissy outrage over Trump's sexual remarks has said the same or worse in private. The second and equally obvious one is that for all of the GOP establishmentarians who are using this as an excuse to drop their support of Trump, it is just that, an excuse. Their real reasons for hating Trump have to do with the fact that he rather than one of their Golden Boys (Bush) is the Republican nominee, this just gives them a self-righteous fig leaf to cover up the real reasons for their opposition.
As to the outrage of liberal Democrats, well, when they disavow Bill Clinton for his sexual escapades, they might have a moral leg to stand on to feign outrage over Trump. Until they do that, they'd best be quiet about other people's sex lives.
2. Without wasting effort by trying to name the most contemptible Trump detractor--or diverting attention from the issues crucial to the very survival of America--we need to put into juxtaposition, the insane narrative of the prissy poseurs, as a class, with the issues that are crucial to any American future. Can anyone, that is any rational person, suggest that Donald Trump's mistake in letting a recounting of a sexual fantasy, eleven years ago, be recorded, is 1/100,000th as important as any of a half dozen issues, where he is for America & Hillary Clinton is not.
3. Again, not getting into wasting time, or building a specific barrier against any sanctimonious twit returning to the cause, as a reformed prodigal; we must organize discussions that compare priorities. The more that we focus on what is really important, the stupider & less principled the sanctimonious twits will sound--and the more certain their comeuppance on November 8th.
Damn the pseudo intellectual poseurs--for that is what they truly are;--Damn the liars & Damn the lies! Full speed ahead. Trump to the White House!
Excellent point.
Well, since I didn’t write the op-ed, I can’t do it. Nor can anyone else.
You're right about Lou Dobbs being one of the best spokesmen for Trump out there. The reason is that trade and fighting American de-industrialization is Trump's strongest issue (it's the issue he's been discussing consistently for years, as opposed to GOP boilerplate that he has to pay lip service to), which is also Dobbs' main political cause.
It is the Left’s denial of common sense reality, that makes it possible to defeat them. Now at last we have a fighter whom they cannot intimidate—as they have the last few “Republican” candidates.
Trump; “Its remarkable how many people have died un-natural deaths around her.”
Bring it up Donald. The people need to think about it and trial by public opion needs to be watered with facts about that crime syndicate.
Hillary Clinton is star and her adoring supporters let her get away with so much.
