We are looking for a used car right now. A basic sedan in the 2-years-old, 30k miles range is 20k+. Huh? It wasn’t that long ago that got you a new car. But I see the new cars going for 35k+. Yikes. No wonder sales are lagging.

The jacked up prices don’t matter to the average consumer. It’s the “zero percent for 72 months” that hooks ‘em. I had a banker friend tell me the only thing his customers cared about was whether the monthly payment fits into their budget.
