When I was a kid, there was a truly philosophical debate of centralized power (Dem) vs devolved power (GOP). Somewhere along the way that changed. Yes, the rhetoric was the same, but those preaching power to the states and localities where doing it merely for political purposes.
The only battle that really happens now is over which side gets to control that massive Fedzilla machine — do the Dems and their interest groups get your hard-earned money, or do the GOP and their interest groups get your hard-earned money?
Unless you’re in one of those interest groups, it makes no difference. You’re hard up either way.

at the minimum Ryan needs to be voted out as speaker and voted out of the house.. we can afford to lose one..

They protested in a First Amendment way backed up by exercise of their Second Amendment right.
Coincidentially I’ve done a lot of reading on Martin Luther King in recent years and he was a flawed man, but he ‘overcame’ the Democrat machine.
We will have to ‘overcome’ the Republican machine in the end to save this country from its doom, I suspect.
My thought was that Ryan will be better than Pelosi, not that Ryan is in any way ideal.
If Pelosi is in charge, she can call hearings and undermine Trump in a way Ryan would not. Pelosi would be very bad trumping (truly no pun intended) up normal every day govt activities to make it appear there are scandals around every corner. It would not be a pretty sight.
At this very disputatious juncture in our Republic's history, it is incumbent upon all of us to be bipartisan. And in the spirit of bipartisanship, I join with our friends across the aisle when I say, It is not the nature of the evidence that is important, but rather the seriousness of the charge.

This is probably Paul Ryan's idea to sink Trump. Ryan is as afraid of Trump as the rats are. Imagine the shock and horror when you find out that Ryan has been bought too.
