I think he should have stopped before the Clinton part.

Anyone with kids hates the, “He did worse.” Two wrongs don’t make a right. Take responsibility and show me you can do better. I expect that from my kids. Expecting it from my President should not even be in question.

And don’t just apologize to the offended. Just apologize.

Pointing out hypocrisy is not inappropriate in a political apology.

Glad your not working in his campaign since your support for Trump is lower than a winter in Anchorage.

Yes groveling and cowering to the Clinton media cabal and the Bush - Clinton crime families is always more effective . / sarc

For what? Have you actually watched the tape where Trump made the comments? In the context of the situation he's just bantering with the other guys.

Watch what Trump actually said in context, and see if you still think what he said was even offensive in that context.

Trump talking about some girl with Billy Bush

I think he struck about the right balance and did the best he could under the circumstances. His words are indefensible and therefore he cannot defend them, all he can do is what he did: apologize and go on the attack. I quite agree with you that naughty children are not to be excused because some other child was naughty, the same goes for politicians. But this is an instance in which we must make a Sophie's choice, Donald or Hillary so each must paint the other blacker. Let the better mudslinger win.

Trump is on the higher ground defending words while attacking Hillary for actions yet this is going to be a very difficult fight to win because the audiotape plays into the narrative. Perhaps that's why Hillary went to such pains to create the narrative, because she had this tape in her pocket all the time. When a gaffe confirms the stereotype it always does far more damage.

Hillary has another advantage, she cannot win this election if the electorate makes rational judgments on her record. If you ask her what she has managed to accomplish she really has no answer so she cannot campaign on her record, she must campaign in the gutter and this places Donald Trump and his campaign right down there in the muck with her. Down here she has the advantage of money, media, demographics, the geography of the electoral college and an advantage in the polls. Trump must not lose a single battleground state while carrying the burden of all these obstacles and fending off the narrative.

Trump has got to pivot like a Dervish and bring the campaign and the debate back onto issues. That will be hard enough but the odds are there will be another October surprise leaking from the Clinton camp.

For the record, this is not created by the never Trumpers, not done by Ted Cruz, not the fault of FReeper's with insufficient zealotry for Trump, this is all Donald.

What you don’t get is that Trump’s single instance of holding the Clintons accountable is about a million times more valuable than a billion holier than thou attitudes.

I don't agree. I remember being told that the Clinton's marriage was their own business and didn't impact the office.

What Clinton did was while he was in office. The Dems don't get to act all offended over words when we were scolded over his actual acts.

When it was a private conversation with a BUSH (cousin of John Ellis), and HRC LAUGHS or IGNORES any mention Juanita Brodderick or the Lolita Express (etc. etc.) ANYone who hasn't pointed to that FIRST (including HRC herself) is being a hypocritical. Bush the Younger ought to be THANKFUL that the DUI incident didn't result in a rash of denunciations of him personally from Florida, for instance. Trump is allowed to expose the double standard.

And heck, he's written tawdry stuff about his adultery in books. I get more worked up about actions than foul language (excepting blasphemy, profanity, and PUBLIC verbage meant to degrade or wrongly incite.)

You don’t believe that Trump should point out that Hillary’s husband is a lip-biting rapist?

And that Hillary enabled and protected his behavior, and punished his victims?

There’s nothing presidential about hiding the truth.
