Down a few paragraphs, it says, “Officers had walked into the area of one location to attempt the locate one sighting only to find the neighborhood was out looking as well.”

Vidor has had the worst reputation for redneck citizens and cops of any Texas town I know of. For years after the Civil Rights Act (and maybe today for all I know)no black person EVER lived in Vidor —or was found there after dark if he knew what was good for him.

If you were some kid pulling a prank in a clown suit and the neighbors were out looking for you, you can bet they were strapped and carrying baseball bats.

Geez. Thanks for the warning. I’ll make sure to steer clear of Vidor in my Texas travels.
